There was a company called Maccabees Mutual, (unsure of spelling). Spoke on
the phone with a friend, and her mother died in February but has still not been
able to locate the company to file the claim with. Anyone know if company has
been bought out who bought them? Any other places I might attempt to find
them. Thanks for your help. Mike Mathieu.

Try looking in Bests Insurance Directory. Bests have a website, but I lost my
bookmark on it.

You're most likely talking about Royal Maccabees Life, part of the Royal
Globe Insurance Group. The group was sold a few years ago and I can't
remember which company bought them out. AM Best website search no longer
lists Royal Maccabees (or other members of the group, i.e. Royal Indemnity,
Globe Indemnity, etc.) so your best bet is to contact your state insurance
commissoners office, where they can direct you to the company which
purchased them.

I had a Maccabee policy 55 years ago. Don't remember where they
are located.
However, on the face of the policy, it should list the State
that they were in when
the policy was written. Contact the Commissioner of Insurance of
that State.
