I am American and my wife is Canadian and she got a green card after
we married ten years ago. We are living in Kenya and returning to the
US this summer. At that time, we’ll have been outside the country for
one and a half years. When we left, we didn’t realize that if you
leave the country for more than a year, when you try to re-enter, the
immigration officer might revoke your green card because they presume
you have abandoned your residency. We still own a house in the US
that we’ve been renting out. We have three children. What are the
chances that when we show up at the border, her green card will be
revoked?
