(text of original situation included at end)

My credit card company granted me a temporary credit last Friday in regards
to the situation. This morning, I get a phone call from my pals at CNS tell
me they were going to file a lawsuit against me, etc.

I guess they got notice from the credit card company that they weren't going
to be getting their money (or more accurately, that the money was being
taken back). So much for their "you signed for the package and that's all
we need to prove our case" stuff, I hope! None of this is final, but
normally, nothing should change (after all, if CNS really had a way to make
me pay, why would they have called? again, I *hope*)

******** ANOTHER COMPANY OUT TO RIP YOU OFF! ***************

Computer Network Systems
2212 Superior Blvd.
Cleveland, OH. (800) 552-7888
a/k/a CNS (in the ads)

Not only do these guys rip you off, but they admit they're ripping you off!

I ordered 2 32MB SIMMS from them, a a large tower case. They were placed as
2 orders, because I was willing to pay $15 for overnight shipping on the
SIMMS, but I didn't need the case THAT badly.

So, on a Thursday, I get the box with the SIMMS (it's delivered to my house;
a roomate signs for it). I open it up that afternoon, and there's *NO*
SIMMS in it!!!!! So I figure, well, with the timediiference, I'll call
tomorrow in the morning before I go to work; it's a mistake. So I call
Friday and my salesman says "I'll look into it and call you right back."
Nope. No call back Friday. Monday was a holiday, and I was out myself, so
I didn't sweat it. Tuesday I call and ask for the salesman, he's "not
available" and the person I'm talking to says that my salesman is the only
person who can help me, and he'll have the salesman call as soon as he gets
back. Yeah, well...you can guess the result of that.

So this morning (Wednesday), I call again. but this time my salesman
answers the phone. Okay, cool, I figure, now let's get this moving. The
case came in Tuesday afternoon,m so now I really was hyped to put everything
together (rather than cramming into a mini tower just to play with it). My
salesman says "hang on a minute," puts me on hold, and who else should get
on the line that told me yesterday that he couldn't help me, only my
salesman could.

But hey, let's be fair, maybe the guy had a bad day, I think. So I explain
the situation again to him. He responds "that can't be, we don't do that."
I said "I'm not saying that you did it on purpose, but I can't imagine you
never make mistakes. I just want my SIMMS." At this point, he goes back to
the "there's no way it could happen, it's not like it's a 75 pound package
where that could happen," to which I said I figured it'd be a hell of a lot
easier to notice a package that should weigh 75 pounds but weighed 4 than a
1 pound package that would weigh maybe 1.2 pounds if not missing the SIMMS.

Back and forth we argue. Finally, I tell him that he's really got 2
choices. Either I am going to contest the charge on my credit card, or he
can credit me the money and not get the black mark from his merchant bank
for having a charge contested (mercht banks are always paranoid about mail
order places, anyways). He proceeds to tell me that I can *TRY* and dispute
the charge, but he's not worried. After all, they "have a signature from
the person who received the box." I pointed out to him that with UPS, you
can't open the box until you sign for it, and all you are doing when you
sign is saying that you got a package, not that the package is satisfactory.

He told me I was wrong and I could try whatever I wanted. Icredulously, I
said "So, you're telling me you've got this worked out as scam, according to
you? That you can ship a package and leave the customer with no recourse,
according to you?" He said "Yes, that's correct." I told him I was going
to contest the charge anyways, and I was going to do it today, not wait for
my statement. He told me "fine" and that was it.

So I figure I'll call the bank and get all that address, which I do, and
then I sit down to write my claim to the credit card bank, and I decide
maybe, since they already did this once, I should see if there's reall a
tower case in the other box, or rocks or something. Well, there's a full
tower case in there alright, but it doesn't have a 300 watt power supply,
nor does it have a second cooling fan.

So I'm glad I check, added that to my dispute letter.

The moral is, these guys are CROOKS! DON'T DEAL WITH THEM!
