This will be interesting to watch... as when i asked this group
two months ago..(because my new Sonnet G3 board
was makin my 8500/w-7500 crash like Evil Kneivel)--All anyone
replied was that THERE IS NO SUCH THING!!!!!., .

Let me know if you findout there ACTUALLY IS one.. ok.??

Yes there is such a thing as a rom simm for the 7500. I have sold many Macs
with and without the rom simm. I may have a couple. I will check and let
you know (joys of moving, still have everything packed in boxes!)

Altho.. I must add.. that I put the Sonnet G3 into my S900
and tho it runs.. it hangs & freezes.. when ever I am running
anything off a CD-ROM.. or just even playing a movie
with Quicktime Player.. Movie Player.. whatever.. POWWW!!..freezzzz.
I hate SONNET.. it's bullshit.

AMERICAN 7500 BOARDS.. right Adam.???

Well I have it written right on my 7500 board.."Canadian"
and such other 'weirdness' as when i run Tech Tool
to check "Hardware Config"--the board shows NOT
the [ standard 4 megs of ROM ] but *ONLY 3 megs of ROM*
Now you tell me what the hell.?? hmm???

This damn board freezes the instant after hitting the desktop with the
Sonnet G3 processor slot upgrade card that is DESIGNED for a 7500.
And I HAVE done every trick in the bok & then some-NO CHANGE.
The board works PERFECTLY with a 604e Slot card of ANY speed..
so it is NOT a board prob either.
So .. ?".. GO FIGURE that one OK.?

because its all I know. I dont know the parts outside of the US. I do
know that the G3/G4 boards to patch the ROM as the machine boots in some
fashion.. I know that you cant write to a ROM, so I am not exactly sure
how it does that.... There is some kind of incompatability in the PCI
roms with the newer CPU's... Maybe it uses the PRAM "slots" to store a
fix? Maybe there is a problem there.... Duno.. Is this one of those
boards that lets you change the bus speed? The RAM configuration and the
bus speed COULD be suspect.. I dont really know whats going on tho...

Sounds pretty weird... I have seen this conversation several times, and
no one has yet come up with a ROM simm for one of these thingds... I
dont think they exist.

Nahhhh.. it's just the very standard shining star player from Sonnet
a 300/150/1mb G3 proc slot upgrade ..the usual suspect.
I ranted about this problem back in May.. when i first got it from
Sonnet 'via EBAY'..(now i know why they say: EBAY.??= riff & raff )
Sonnet gave me a real run around..and a bitter taste.
But in this NG several others.. were rather stunned that I was having
such incompatiblities with the 7500 board. A couple were not-and had
similar frustrations. So I chalked it up to experience--and waited to
purchase my UMAX S900 and pack it into that--just to see.. ya know???
Yeahh h h.. well l l ..... . .. still perty sad stuff.. it freezes during
QuickTime movies.. and when trying to run anything off a CD.. even
just something as simple as opening a JPG..on a CD will sometimes get a
HARDCRASH.. that is pure BS in my not so humble opinion anymore.
Garbage to put it bluntly. Tjis is what is so damn confounding about
computers "is that the shit aint as advertised".. jerks.
Jerks because that hurts every buyer..user.. everywhere--but it's
really bad when you find bogus crap in MAC-Land.

Yeahhh .. I know.. the're prolly like UFO's.. might be--might not be.?
Would like someone to step forward that has 'em.. or the knowledge
of them and what patch ROMS were released(for what fix's)

Actually should credit & compliment you more in the NG's.. you
