Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk San Diego 2003

November 21st-23rd, I'll be participating in a very special event
called the Breast Cancer 3-Day.

I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of
other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer
research, education, screening and treatment through the Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust.

According to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation this year:

· Over 200,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed.
· Almost 40,000 women will die from breast cancer.
· Approximately 1,300 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
· More than 400 men will die from breast cancer.
· Roughly 3,000,000 people have breast cancer in the U.S.
· 1,000,000 of them don’t know it!

That's why I'm walking so far.
To increase awareness, to support early detection, to find a cure…

I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me - by
supporting me in my fundraising efforts. Every walker has agreed to
raise at least $2,000 in donations by October. I've set my personal
goal at $4,000. So I need your help. Would you please consider making
a donation? Remember, each walker has a minimum goal of $2000 to
strive for. Help me reach and exceed mine. Any amount is helpful and
appreciated, whether it is $250 or $10. Remember - $10 from 100
people is the same as $250 from 4. Please take a look at the attached
donation form and designate the amount that's right for you or donate
online at www.breastcancer3day.org. Please keep in mind how far I'm
walking -- and how hard I'll have to train.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Sincerely,

Carrie Wren

Sorry to throw cold water on all such well-meaning efforts. But is not all
the money being spent on cancer research going in some kind of a black hole?
What do cancer researchers have to show for billions and billions that is
being given to them each year?

May be the problem is not lack of money but too much money!

I came to this conclusion on seeing some websites like www.cancer-cure.net.
May be some of you want to visit it too.
