Hi folks,

I just watched some of one of those infomercials -- this one was
for a ski machine product called Fit One. The machine appears to
be a step above the Easy Glider category (which I think is about
$60 now) and is aimed at a market beneath the Nordic Track crowd.

Of course, they looked great in the ad. Anybody have any real
experience with one? They are selling at $295 plus shipping. Even
with a thirty day return period, I'm reluctant to experiment
at that price. I'd appreciate any first-hand comments....

Hi again! Just a quick follow-up on my own question...

I was browsing through a K-Mart yesterday and examined
an Easy-glider in its box. (There wasn't one on display,
so I had to settle for looking at the packaging.) Anyway,
the part I thought was interesting was that the package
identified the manufactuer of the machine as Fitness Quest.
That is the same company that makes the Fit One machine.
Maybe everybody else on this network (read civilized world,
if you prefer) knew that, but I hadn't. Hmmmmmmm. - DS

I think they are all the same. We've just purchased a fitness Master Ski
machine, which we were told was the same as the Fit-One. I believe I saw
something called fitness Quest and thought it was ALSO the same machine!!

Suggestion: Call Fit-One's 800 number. Order it. You
have 30 days to return it. They pay shipping both ways.
When you get it, look at the manufacturers tag.

Alternate suggestion: go to a sporting goods store that sells the beastie. Get
on it and try it out. See if a PushMe/PullYou machine is really what you want.
If you still want the machine, you probably have some obligation to buy it
from the store.

You may want to compare it to a Nordic Track -- they're available in some
retail outlets. Most clubs have them, too. It's OK to take a free visit at a
club to try it out -- you may decide that a club membership is what you really
want.

Even if it's entirely free, Fit-One's "return shipping guarantee" can a
hassle. You may misplace the paperwork or accidentally throw out the box or
shipping stuff. Your cat may attack the device...a flesh wound is probably all
it takes to make it unreturnable. These companies know that there's a
significant percentage of people who won't bother to return something, even if
they are not totally enthusiastic about it. They may not have your best
interests in heart.
