That's entirely dependent upon the architecture of the place you'll be
living, but until your weights get big, you will typically be fine on most
lifts. Of course there's always the problem with annoying the downstairs
neigbors (e.g., when you drop a plate). They make rubber exercise mats
that deaden the noise.
With deads are you dropping the bar or easing it down? If you're dropping
the bar, that would definitely be a problem.

That's a good point. My current upstairs neighbor is a fat lady with a piano.
Hopefully my deadlifting will improve faster than her piano playing.

A few folks have set up something for themselves using a 4'x8' sheet of
plywood, car tires, and a rubber mat. Sounds like it might be necessary
in your case.
Of course, you'd get great exercise if you just walked all your weights
outside each time before using them. <smile>

The stress is shared among joists fairly well, both by the fact
that the flooring spans joists and because of the bridging (X-
shaped pieces between joists). Common building codes call for a
load capacity of 40 lbs/square foot of live load, but this is
set more in terms of limiting deflection than a concern over
stress. If you try DL'ing on a floor and it deflects more than
you like, you can lay a sheet of plywood down to spread the load
better. This will be most effective if you can figure out what
direction the floor joists go and place the plywood to span the
maximum number of joists. It's also better to place the load
closer to a wall than in the middle of a large room.
