Which one of these old timers made the most money?

The York barbell guy?

Charles Atlas?

Jack LaLanne?

Arthur Jones?

Joe Weider?

Arthur Jones must have made a ton of dough on the Nautilus machines. Jack
LaLanne made tons of money on his juicers, TV shows of the 1950s/60s, and
other crap he sold; Joe Weider has made millions off the IFBB magazines,
supplements, and weight sets. York was the old-time king of free weights,
they must have made a lot of money back in the day. Who is the champion of
fitness finance?

Well, there's always Wiki:

"The Nautilus machines and the company he formed to sell them made him
a multimillionaire and landed him on the Forbes list of the 400
richest people At one point, financial analysts estimated that
Nautilus was grossing $300 million annually. He sold Nautilus Inc. in
1986 for $23 million."

I wouldn't be at all surprised. Wiki offers that "Weider began his
publishing empire with $7 at age 17," and Googling further indicates
that American Media Inc. (AMI) and Evercore Partners acquired Weider
Publications Inc., publisher of Shape, Men's Fitness and other
magazines, in a $350 million deal.

Ouch! But the company's still in operation and not far from where I
live. You want a Olympic set for $99?

Jack LaLanne does not own Bally's. I thought that was owned by the Mafia.
Anyhow, it seems like Joltin Joe Weider is the richest guy in fitness. I
imagine he may have even more money than Arnold??

I believe the phrase is "NO SHIT, SHERLOCK!"

At one time LaLanne had about 200 Jack La Lanne health spas. He
eventually licensed all his gyms to the Bally company. Unrelated to
finance, but still cool trivia: During a Larry King interview LaLanne
commented, "I invented a lot of the equipment you have in the gyms
today: the first weight selector, and a lot of the - the leg extension
machines, some of the pulley things. And I invented those things way
back there in the '30s, because there was nothing around."

I don't think so.

You've got some imagination there.

Nike is not a fitness or bodybuilding personality. You seem to have your
fingers on the pulse of Google, so right now who is the richest person who
is or was involved in fitness as a bodybuilder or professional athlete?? Joe
Weider still counts because he claims he won Mr. Pasadena back in 1924.

No, but Philip H. Knight is.

You have a problem with information?

I bet you're going to tell me. (And, yeah, I have peripheral vision.)
