I've been watching some "speed deadlift" clips which apparently improve
"rate of force development". In the clips I saw the rep range seems to
be between 1-3 reps per set with between 50% to 70% 1 RM. Anyone know
why the rep range is so limited and could speed reps be usefully
incorporated into a regular deadlift session?
Thanks,

Keith

This is part of the Westside template. Speed deadlifts are done on
dynamic effort day, along with box squats also done with less than 70%.
On maximum effort day they choose one exercise out of many that work the
posterior chain and go to a maximum effort.

Normally you wouldn't work both a dynamic effort and a max on the same
day. On one day the objective is rate of force development and
technique. On the other the objective is strength.

Thanks, that clears it up for me.
