I read an article in some Ohio fitness newspaper which gave the following
brief outline of Cain's workout program.

He works out seven days a week for two hours each day. He does one
hour of weight training plus another hour of aerobics. He splits all
of the bodyparts in his training and does all different types of cardio-
conditioning. He pays very close attention to his diet. He follows a
program called the Gold's Gym Nutritionanalysis System. It follows an
almost zero fat, moderate protein plus a ton of complex carbohydrates
regimen. What a novel idea!

He does all of this, because he says that the Superman getup
he wears is very unforgiving and shows any excess bodyfat, while amplified
by the camera lens which adds another couple of pounds to the visual they
are all trying to create. I believe that they are shooting for the
heart-throb look and not the heart-blob look.
In response to our rocking Danzig fan, I am not certain that 75% of the
people in this newsgroup work out any harder or better than Dean Cain.
He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills (go Steelers!) out of Princeton
University as a free safety. He set all sorts of new Ivy League records
for interceptions and forcing turnovers. I'm not 100% sure, but I think
I remember the article saying that he was also an Academic All-Amercian.
This makes me think that he IS faster than a speeding bullet and hits
harder than a locomotive. This is really hard for an ex-linebacker
to say about a defensive back=:) Unfortunately, or fortunately if you
consider his on screen success, he suffered a career-ending knee injury
which ended his career during the preseason of 1988. So if 75% of this
newgroup are better athletes than the man of steel, let me know because we
might be able to carve ourselves out a football dynasty of our own.

Unfortunately when Dean Cain showed up for start of production on new
season of Lois and Clark he had put on 20 pounds of fat. His excuse was a
summer of cheesecake and cheeseburgers, so he obviously was not doing that
seven day a week routine during the summer!

With all due respect to Dean., who seems like a genuinely nice person, he
looks kinda like a very average fairly fit guy most of the time when I see
him in Golds or at the Firehouse in Venice. Every once in a while he gets
in some pretty good shape, but I've never seen him look even close to as
good as he did once or twice on TV. A lot of it is all done with mirrors,
brother.
