I'm considering buying a fold-up treadmill (Spirit 277). The footprint
of the unit when folded (24" X 34") lends itself perfectly to be
stored in an almost perfectly sized spot in my den.

To work out, I would need to slide the treadmill (280 lbs) just two
feet to the side and then back again to store. Is there a "best way"
to do this? The slide would be on a carpeted surface.

I'm a fairly strong guy. My main concern isn't so much for myself but
for the strain on the treadmill itself. I want the daily move to be as
easy as possible on the treadmill.

Any of you treadmill users have a similar set up?

Thanks for any/all replies.

Treadmills seem to be surprisingly fragile for what they do,
and stuff today is really manufactured in a mentality of
minimalism--highly paid engineers spend a lot of time thinking about the
cheapest manufacturing processes that will **just** get the product
through its warrantee period, and even more highly paid actuaries
analyze the statistics, to calculate the "even-bet point" of the
warrantee. So when you buy a product or its extended warrantee, you
better believe you are in Las Vegas without the lites. Except for the
real commercial versions, which cost $3,000, and probably weigh 5-600#.
So, if this is really going to be a daily thing, I would make a
2x4 frame for the bottom, with lockable ball bearing casters ($5-10/ea
at a good hardware store). Or the equivalent.
IMO, moving a 280 pound treadmill is probably much more
worthwhile than actually using it. :)
