I am bringing my family to Florida for a vacation next Easter. All the schools
in England have roughly the same holiday dates(and get two weeks for Easter)
and I wondered if the same applied in the U.S.. If so, I would be grateful if
someone could let me know when the schools there break up for Easter and how
long they get for the holiday so we could avoid the busiest times. I know that
in the USA you have very long summer holidays(we have six weeks) so I am hoping
that your Easter vacation is short.

Some schools don't take it at Easter at all. In the North, many districts do it
at the end of February or in mid-March. In Florida, mostly, they have one week
- the one around Easter Friday. But whether they take it before the Friday or
after is a good question. Each district is different - we're not like the UK.
Schools in the US are not nationally regulated.

Go during the off-week, if you can figure it out - not Easter week - and you'll
probably miss the crowds.

Better yet, go during the February half-term holiday and you'll be SURE to miss
the crowds.

I live in Florida, but am teaching here in the UK for this year. That's how I
know the difference.
