Position Description:
Coordinate the science education components of the NSF grant proposal
"Linking Girls and their Technological Futures through Informal Science".
Responsible for providing continued support in the area of the science and
equity training to all collaborators throughout the project lifetime. The
educational specialist will: research informal science activity plans at the
appropriate age levels to expand project scope, assist with adapting training
to ICN (Iowa's fiber optic network), monitor training and activities to
ensure age-appropriateness for the multiple-age target groups, travel
throughout the state to training sites to monitor and assist in training,
market the project through participation in statewide conferences and assist
in preparation of project newsletter and project reports.

Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor's degree in science or science education. Two years
experience working with youth. Experience with community groups like
Girl Scouts, 4-H. Valid driver's license. Excellent communication
skills.
Demonstrated ability to teach hands-on science to adults and children.
Commitment to increasing scientific literacy among youth. Commitment
to gender equity.
Preferred: Experience with distance learning/interactive media. Teacher
certification.

Proposed Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: $12,570-14,558
