Gentle Spirit magazine was the first magazine to introduce me and my family to
homeschooling. It was advertised in a flyer sent out by Focus on the Family.
It is the only magazine of it's type that I receive. It encourages us in our
chosen lifestyle as well as homeschooling.

I have not received an issue since March, 1994. I have called several times,
but only receive an answering machine. I have written four times, one of those
times I included my renewal subscription. They have not responsed. Are they
still publishing? Their answering machine message speaks of a crisis. What
type of crisis? Illness? Death in the family? They have never missed an
issue since I began receiving it over three years ago.

I know of no one who subscribes to Gentle Spirit and since New Brunswick,
Canada, is far removed from the general homeschooling scene, I have not
been in touch with other homeschoolers on this matter.

Can someone tell me, are they still in business? Or have I just wasted $72 on
a magazine that is no longer in publication. I'm sure they will notify me
themselves eventually, but I miss thry're encouragement.

ANYONE OUT THERE WITH INFO, LET ME KNOW!!! THANKS1

Yours In Christ,

(my own paraphrase) What has happened to Gentle Spirit?

From various sources on America Online this is what I have heard:

On or about June 27, 1994, Cheryl Lindsay filed for divorce from her
second husband, Claude.

She has been accused by her former church and others of having a contiued,
adulterous relationship with another man.

I have seen her acknowledge the sin of adultery; however there has not
been a denial of the contiuance of this relationship or a statement of
repentance that I am aware of.

She intends to continue publishing GS. I have not heard when there will
be another issue.

I heard Cheryl speak at a convention June 23, 1994 and then paid for a
subscription. Needless to say, I have not received an issue. I asked for
a refund three times--once (a month ago), Cheryl responded, promising a
refund. However, I have not received one.

There is much, much more to this that I have read and been told--both from
Cheryl's posts on AOL and from others. For me to say anymore here, would
be--to me--gossiping. If you would like to e-mail me, perhaps I would be
willing to elaborate.
