What tips do you have for enhancing your creativity?

Do you find that you are more creative at certain
times of the day, or phases of the moon?

write when you've got something to communicate

writing for writing's sake, as in a-song-a-day, blunts the whole
process

I was mainly interested in songwriting creativity, so
for all four of the groups
misc.creativity,rec.arts.poems,rec.music.makers.songwriting,
rec.music.compose
my post was on topic, so up yours, PJR. Discussions
of poetic creativity belong on rec.arts.poems just
as much as posts of the poems themselves. Skip
the thread if you are not interested, and add me
to your killfile (automatically filter my posts out)
if you don't wish to see further posts from me.
But don't pretend to be a moderator on an unmoderated group.

I am guilty of crossposting to alt.music.s-mclachlan
with only the justifications that Sarah McLachlan
might benefit from any creativity tips and might
be reading still, and that I hang out there.

As for time of the day, it may be beneficial to
keep a notebook at your bedside for ideas from
waking from a dream, or ideas just before falling
asleep, or ideas on waking in the morning.

As for phases of the moon, I have in the past noticed
some lunar phase correlated creativity in myself
(particularly with five waning crescent highs
from 1991 to 1994) and I was wondering if anyone
else noted a lunar phase correlation in their creativity.

My apologies for responding to cross posted material. I just did not check.

Your posts promo an artist and could be classified as Spam and I see them as
such.

I don't promo an artist, I merely mentioned an artist. The main
focus of my posts was to discuss the creativity procees in
songwriting, poetic composition, and musicial composition.

Adding alt.arts.poetry.comments to your list. You should really consider
coming over and joining us there, David!

I do... Most often late at night, never did figure out the moon thing yet.

Seasons changing, changes in relationships, dreams.

Right now I'm having fun with my friend Milo's "poetry prompts", although I
haven't finished a poem with the method yet:

OK, I added it to the list of groups I check.

As I said, from 1991 to 1994 I had five waning crescent highs
during which I wrote a bit but I think I never really
finished anything. That is one problem with the hypomanic
or manic phase of bipolar illness, you start a lot of
projects but don't finish them. But I am hoping my 17
years of low years will end soon with renewed creativity
and that I might finish some projects (and poems) that I
started in the past.

That sounds possible, it is one of the groups I check regularly
and post to occasionally, most often about Newfoundland folk
music. Good to e-meet you again!

By the way, my sister Mary just put out a book of centos
called Hooking. Centos are poems that are collages of
lines from other poems. For example one might be the
second line of twenty-one poems by other (cited) poets.
I'll probably post a separate post on that book soon.
The title Hooking refers to making rugs out of strips
of cloth, in rug-hooking. Centos is pronounced chentos.
