My wife and I are exploring the possibility of renovating our 1940's
central Austin house. Because of some tricky design issues, we want
to have an architect do the design and oversee the construction.

I've been gathering the names of architects and architectural firms
that appear to do this sort of work -- residential renovation with a
sensitivity to historical and "green builder" issues. I'd appreciate
any recommendations that fit the bill, and especially any pro or con
comments on the following:

Architecture + Plus (Mac Ragsdale and Betty Trent)
Barley + Pfeiffer
Carter Design Associates (Abbey Lawson and Donna Carter)
Donna Osborn
Gary Furman
Heather H. McKinney Architects
James Jeffrey Jack
Lars Stanley Architects
Lou Kimball
Noble Savage Design/Build (Anthony DeGrazia)
Parshall + Associates
Robert James Architecture
Studio of 2 on Sixth (James Linville)

Please reply by mail, although you should feel free to post to the
newsgroups as well if you wish. Thanks.
