We recently replaced a fibreglass shower stall with a stall with one clear glass wall and a clear glass door. Haven't used it yet (still a bit more work going on in the bathroom) but we've already heard from friends (or,
should I put quotes around "friends"?) about how hard --impossible some say-- to keep the glass clean looking. Are there any products (like Rain-X I've used on my auto glass) that prevent soap scum build up, or at
least make it less of a problem? Also, once the glass needs cleaning, what's the most effective way of doing that?

TIA.

They recommend using a squeegee.

We were told (after the fact) that using car wax on the glass would cut down on
water spots. I decided that I would rather install a water softner and use a
squegee after every shower and have a life... 8 years later and the shower looks
fine.

I'll second that. We've got clear glass and it still looks clear/clean
after almost nine years.

Rain-X or the like. Works on boats so showers should be a
POC.

This is the key. Squegee it off after EVERY shower and it will look
great. Plus you get to do some stretching every day too. :-)

I vote with the others who said to use a squeege. We have kept glass
shower doors, and the tile too, looking brand new all the time by
sqeegeeing after use. Takes about one minute or less, depending on
how big an area. Greatly reduces the amount of cleaning you have to
do.
