I have a GE side-by-side Artica Refrigerator with ice maker and water
dispenser. Everytime I open and close the freezer, the refrigerator
makes a water gurgling sound. The Refrigerator has always done this
and it's less than a year old. Is this normal? If not, any ideas as to
the problem?
Thanks

It also pulls quite a vacuum sometimes, and you have to yank on the
doors pretty hard to get them open when this happens. I am very willing
to live with this because it shows how well the door seals are working.
Also, when it is very quiet in the house, and you listen very carefully,
the unit makes very quiet noises that I can only describe as sounding
like a cat coughing up a hairball in the other end of the house :)
Best refrigerator I've ever had though! 'Hairballs' or not!

I don't know about your specific model (since you never said which one
you have) but some other makes have experienced a similar sound caused
by air bubbling up into the fridge through a 'goose neck' in the
defrost water drain system.
I would suggest you contact a local GE authorized factory service
depot with the model and serial number of your fridge and ask if there
are any 'service kits' available to correct such an occurrence (if
indeed that is your problem).
You can find tips for locating the model and serial number tag *on
your appliances* in the 'Repair Parts' section of my site linked
below.
