I bought a new bosch dishwasher, which I installed myself. It is the
simplest one, with a round knob instead of the electronic controls.

The first time I tried it out, it washed the dishes fine, but after
completing the cycle the "indicator light" never came off. I thought
that it might stay on for a while until the dishes cooled off a little,
but I left overnight and in the morning the light was still on. By then
I just opened the door, which made the light come off.

Anybody with a similar dishwasher: is this their normal behavior, or
should I be worried about it? The user's manual of the dishwasher didn't
say anything about what happens when the wash cycle completes. This is
the first dishwasher I ever install, so I guess there is a chance I did
something wrong during installation.. I just followed the instructions
in the installation manual and everything seemed to fit into place
nicely.

Is this time to call service? Thanks...

Does it go off if you open and close the door?

Perhaps this is similar in feature to my "clean dishes"
lite on the kitchenaid.

I have a several year old Bosch of similer design. Mine has 4 buttons
and a knob. The right three buttons select a wash setting and the left
button is the on/off switch and has the light in it. On mine, light is
on when the switch is on. So, when you run through a wash cycle, the
light will stay on until you press the power button to turn it off.

As I recall, the manual for mine suggested you could use the light as an
indicator for whether the dishes were clean or dirty. You must remember
to turn the power (and thus the light) off after you remove the clean
dishes. Perhaps this light is a feature that tells you the dishes are
clean. If it goes on when you start the cycle and stays on until you
open the door, you could use it for this.

I'm curious whether your dishwasher dries the dishes completely. I'm
disappointed with the amount of water left on the dishes by my
dishwasher.

Thanks, Lou...
My dishwasher is similar to that, I guess, except that it has five
buttons instead of 4 (four cycle selections + on/off switch).

I guess that the light staying on is just a feature of the dishwasher.
It really doesn't bother me or anything; I was just puzzled because I
didn't see any mention of that behavior in the user's manual. If yours
does the same I take that this is a design feature, and not a bug.

About the drying, I have only run it once, but it did get the dishes
clean and dry. There was a small amount of water in the back of some
glasses with a concave bottom, but it seemed acceptable (similar to what
I was used to see in the old GE I used before). In the manual of mine,
it suggests that if the dishes aren't dry, it may be because you are
running it without enough rinse agent (jet-dry?). Mine has a dial for
specifying how much jet-dry to use; if yours has that too, perhaps you
can try fiddling with it to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks!
