I am so frustrated. My wife has an old Maytag Dutch Oven gas range
probably manufactured in the 1940s or 1950s. It works beautifully but
now has a few problems. Contrary to advice I've been given, I
absolutely am not going to junk it. We've had it for 33 years and it
deserves some respect.

I am looking for a maintenance or repair manual, schematic, or
something else that could give me some help in working on it. I wish
I could give a model number, but the information plate that it was on
has long since disappeared.

I have contacted Maytag, but the company just wants to sell me a new
range instead of helping me out.

Can anyone help me.

I don't think Maytag ever made their own cooking appliances until they
purchased Magic Chef, Hardwick, etc. in the 70' or 80's and used
their cooking appliance plants so it may have been made by another
company and just rebranded with the Maytag name. I don't know whom the
original manufacturer might have been (maybe Chambers?) but some of
the people which can be found using the following link may be able to
assist.

BTW. You can often find manuals for Chamber's ranges and ovens at the

Thank you so much my kind friends. I was unaware of Maytag's
manufacturing history. I will investigate obtaining Chambers manuals.

You can read about who makes what brand of major appliance at the
following link:

I don't know for certain that Chambers actually did make that range
for Maytag but a service/repair manual for that vintage of any brand
of stove may help with yours.
