In my house I have 3 toilets. One of which (the one that is
used least) gets yellow water stains on the inside of the
bowl.

The stains look like they were left when water evaporated.
They are spots and snake like lines that are like what
the water does after it finishes flushing.

Any ideas what is causing these yellow stains? It is damn
near impossible to remove them - I have tried normal
toilet bowl cleaners with lots of scrubbing and even
lime-away. But it is very difficult to get it to completely
go away.

Any ideas what is causing the stain and what is an
easy way to clean it?

Thanks,
Jerry Vauk

I'd venture to suggest iron water allowing a rust stain where the water
evaporates. Try Iron Out or Super IO or any such product. Are you sure the
color isn't tan instead of yellow? Look in the tank and see if it's not more
orange(ish) than yellow/tan in the bottom and maybe on the walls under the
water line, if so it's iron. Yellow can be Tannins from evergreen trees and
their needles.

I have found Clorox bleach drop-ins to be great on preventing the
discoloration in my toilets. Good luck.

Try some bleach, it works well for me.
