I replaced my dying LG cell for a new LG 500G, using Tracfone cell service.

The good news is I got my new phone yesterday morning late. The bad news is
that they disabled my old phone early in the afternoon and transferred my
old cell number and part of my minutes (1600 out of 2900) to the new phone,
But the new phone doesn't make or receive calls. I called Tracfone and was
told it could take up to two days until the new phone is working. Nothing
about minute shortage. <sigh>

The manual that came with the phone is terrible. Tells little that is
useful. The previous LG had an excellent manual.

Let the buyer beware!

Isn't LG bottom of the line anyway?

I hadn't heard that but it is quite possible. I still blame Tracfone for
my problems though. Phone seems to work otherwise.

BTW, a few hours after my last message a quick check shows the phone is
calling out now. Don't know if it receives yet. Too busy to check it now.
It's till short of minutes.

I wouldn't say they are bottom of the line but certainly not top of
line. Many LG phones share similarities with their Samsung competitors
and are built in the same factories.

But LG is known to have poor customer service/support.

There is a pretty active user forum at
http://s1.zetaboards.com/Turk/forum/1020639/

There is a topic for the LG 500G. I haven't looked at that particular
branch, but I have gotten lots of useful information about my LG 800G
Tracfone (which also has a sparse user manual) from the 800G branch.
