On NYC TV
TGIF Fridays offers a $12.99 dinner special

we went to a TGIF Friday restaurant in
Mahattan and told offer was not valid there.

The small print at bottom of TV ad is
too small and too quickly flashed to read.

Can't read it on their WWW site either.

Has anyone gotten this special?

What does that small print say?
I assume it says not vaild
in Manhatan. Or maybe not valid
if you can read this.

If you are referring to the 3 course dinner special, the fine print
says -

"*From our special 3 Course Menu, no substitutions. Valid at
Participating T.G.I. Friday's® restaurants between January 11th and
February 24th. For dine in only. Not valid with any other discount
offers. ©2005 TGI Friday's Inc"

I suppose it is possible that the particular restaurant you went to
wasn't Particpating.

Send 'em a comment on their web site - I'll bet you get a coupon good
for a free meal or a 2-for-1 special. Which WILL be good at any TGI
Fridays.

WOW, that was quick:

They have changed the text to make it READABLE.

Now you can read:
*Valid at Participating T.G.I. Friday's® restaurants between January
11th and February 24th"

Why don't you find a good attorney and sue them. After all, a 12.99
dinner in Manhattan should be everyone's right!

Do you know if anyone in NYC has a 29.99 motel for the night?

The best thing about dating a homeless person is that
at the end of the date, you can drop them off anywhere.

We sometimes go to a French restaurant on West 46 Street
where we get lunch with a glass of wine for $8.95

There is a new buffet on Times Square all you can eat lunch inlcuding
shrimp for $6.95. Wine not inlcuded, but soda is.

I tend to assume that all such offers are invalid in the most expensive
markets (and NYC is probably topping that list). The different price
points make those kind of specials hard to make money on, since the cost
of individual items is higher to begin with.

Not to excuse TGI Fridays, but why are you even bothering? It a mall-
bound, cookie-cutter chain restaurant. There are plenty of places in
Manhattan that at least as clean and just as cheap for that sort of food.
If not for the skittish tourists who don't like trying things they don't
recognize, I've never understood why any of these chains could stay in
business in Manhattan. There are plenty of diners and soul food holes-in-
the-wall that will nourish your cravings for burgers and quesadillas at
under $20 for dinner.

This is true. It is valid at all the TGI Friday's in Papua New Guinea
and Guam.

Well, it USED to be a neighborhood restaurant! Until about seven years
ago, the original TGIF was still there, unused, at 63rd and first avenue,
with the red and white striped awnings...

And the original McDonalds was on E Street in San Bernardino, CA - but
it stopped being a neighborhood burger joint when Ray Kroc took over
the franchising.

The McDonald brothers kept their original hamburger stand when the
corporation opened a store less than a mile up the street - they
renamed it "The Big 'M'" and lopped off the top of the Golden Arches,
and held their own for a dozen years or so before both brothers
finally retired.
