I need a cordless phone with answering machine, caller ID and 2.4GKZ.
I am thinking of buying the Panasonic below. Any body know about this one?
KX-TG2258S
2.4GHz GigaRange® Digital Cordless Phone with Talking Caller ID, Voice
Enhancer Technology and Digital Answering System

Any purchase like this should be researched through www.epinions.com and
www.amazon.com (in that order). Epinions isn't showing any reviews on that
model yet, but there are several good reviews from owners posted on Amazon.
I didn't read the reviews, but they seem mostly positive based on the number
of stars. -Dave
I've had three cordless Panasonic phones, and they all sucked. Ditto for
AT&T. The only cordless phones worth a damn are Vtech.
Oddly, my experience with Panasonic corded phones has been OK. Different
divisions I guess.
Agreed. I had a Panasonic cordless phone/answering machine. It
died after 14 months. Fortunately, I paid for it with my
American Express card, and even though Panasonic's best offer
was to sell me a refurbished model for $75 (it only cost $100 to
begin with), AMEX paid me in full for the phone. I bought a
Uniden instead, for the same price (2 handsets). Hopefully this
one will last longer (if not, I paid for it AMEX again, and it's
from Costco so I could in theory return it to them).

This may not apply to you, but it is a Panasonic phone...
I've been using the KX-TG2000B for about two years (link below)
and I've actually been very happy with it. This is after
returning a Nortel system that sucked. I have gotten a range
of 600 feet from an indoor base unit, and garbled conversations
or fade has never been an issue. The interface into the menu
options seems to be considerably better designed than other
phones I've gotten. My only complaint is the mike on the
base unit handset is so tiny that I can barely be heard
(not a problem on the cordless phones).
Of course the KX-TG2000B and KX-TG2258S could be worlds apart
(maybe from different factories or countries) so you might
have to go to eopinions.com (as someone recommended) and
get advice on that particular model.

I was really happy with my Panasonic phone until the handset
just stopped working one day. Sadly, comparing notes with other
Panasonic phone customers shows that I am not alone in my unit
suffering an early demise.
