SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Police are investigating the death of a
newborn whose body was found at a western New York high school.
Syracuse police Lt. Eric Carr says in a news release that the
baby's body was found Monday morning in Nottingham High School.
The school nurse alerted police.
Carr said Wednesday that investigators determined the baby
wasn't born at the school in Syracuse and that the child died
before being left at the school.
Police gave no information about the exact age or sex of the
baby, and they wouldn't comment further.
School Superintendent Sharon Contreras released a statement
Wednesday saying counseling was being made available to students
and staff affected by "this difficult tragedy."
