Hello everybody out there using older hardware -

I'm doing a (free) hardware design (just a hobby, won't be big and
professional like IBM) as an alternative to obsolete 8-bit systems.
This has been brewing since April, and is starting to get ready.
I'd like any feedback on things people like/dislike about existing
8-bit computers such as Commodore, Apple, and CP/M, as my design
resembles them somewhat (same sort of operating system and computer
languages (due to practical reasons) among other things).

I've currently roughed out a design using a fairly modern 8-bit
microcontroller and things seem to work. This implies that I'll
get something practical within a few months, and I'd like to
know what features most people would want. Any suggestions
are welcome, but I won't promise I'll implement them :-)

PS. Yes - it's free of any patents or other IP restrictions,
and it has a new, less restrictive license. It is NOT an exact
emulation (won't run C64 code, Apple II code, etc. directly)
and it probably never will support anything other than USB
keyboards, mice and storage devices. :-)

I've always thought the 6309 (6809) core combined with a serial interface
and some parallel bus connectivity would have been a splendid basis for a
system.
