QUILT, an international memorial to those who have died of
AIDS, will feature approximately 1,600 three-foot by six-
foot panels, each commemorating the life of someone who has
died of AIDS. The display will include many panels made for
Seattle area residents. New panels will also be accepted
during the display (see ongoing 2nd & 4th Sunday event
above), and the closing ceremony will include the dedication
of the new panels. This is just a portion of the AIDS
Memorial Quilt, which includes more than 40,000 panels from
all 50 states as well as 40 foreign countries made by
friends, family members, and lovers, equivalent to about 12
percent of the total number of deaths due to AIDS in the US,
portions of the Quilt are displayed worldwide to encourage
understanding, provide a means of expression for those
grieving, and to raise funds for people affected by HIV and
