On Friday, May 18, Gregory Elich will present a multimedia
presentation on the 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. He
will show slides of photographs he took immediately after the
war, when he travelled as a member of a delegation
throughout Yugoslavia, documenting the widespread
destruction of civilian neighborhoods. Audio recordings of
refugees and survivors of bombing will be interwoven with his
talk.
At a time when the U.S. government continues to lie to the
American public about the extent of death and destruction it
has caused in Iraq, this program offers a rare opportunity to
see first hand evidence of what U.S. wars are like for those
on the receiving end.
The war against Yugoslavia was a classic example of US
military intervention, including support for a violent secessionist
movement, the imposition of crippling sanctions, a 78-day
bombardment, and forcible occupation of the province of
Kosovo.
Gregory Elich is the author of 'Strange Liberators: Militarism,
Mayhem, and the Pursuit of Profit.' His articles have appeared
in publications in North America, Asia, Africa, Europe and
Australia.
"For years, Gregory Elich has made his mark as a journalist-
historian who pairs a special literary flair with a talent for
uncovering real time, tightly held intelligence secrets. In this
profoundly ominous time of modern history, there are
precious few contemporary writers who brook no
compromise with the truth."
