J18 VIDEO AND VIDEO MAGAZINE
We are currently putting together a Video Magazine with the
co-operation of Undercurrents (working title Not UC11). The first piece
in production will be a documentary on the Global day of action against
globalization, June 18th (J18). For this we need footage from all over
the word that was shot on the day. If we get enough footage we will
produce a special half hour or even hour long documentary about J18. We
are also looking for other footage of an
environmental/community/protest nature for other pieces and any
completed pieces/films you may have.
When sending footage please:-
label it clearly with your name and contact details (address/phone
number)
Say where it was shot (Town/City and COUNTRY etc.)
Say when it was shot.
Say what is on the tape (e.g. Office occupation of Monsanto HQ).
Say what format it is on (PAL/NTSC etc.)
Please include a short written description of the day's events, but
don't let this hold up sending the footage.
For the footage to be particularly useful interviews are needed. In the
interviews you should ask these questions:
Why are you here today?
Could you describe what is happening?
What's so important about the issues of ..........
Be creative/imaginative and be critical in your questioning (It will help
them express themselves). for J18 actions you could ask:-
What is globalization?
What's wrong with it?
what are the alternatives?
what message do you have for those in power?
Please take extra care to ensure that your sound quality is as good as
it possibly can be. For more details check out the section on sound and
interviewing in the Rough Guide to Video and for general advice also
see the Video Activist/Journalist Survival Kit.
Please don't hesitate to contact us by phone or e-mail to
discuss further.
