Is Linda Wiegand's Nightmare a Hoax?
One of the bigger attractions on this website has been the story of Linda
Wiegand, who has claimed to be a victim, along with her two children Jon and
Ben, of a Satanic pedophile ring. At the time I first read her story, I was
rather burnt out on this subject, having almost finished my piece on JonBenet
Ramsey, and was not interested in writing another word about exploitation of
children for awhile. But then I read about her case in The Free American, and
my heart went out to Linda and her two children. Further, the statement of
Ted Gunderson, that this was "the worst case of child sexual abuse and
judicial corruption I've seen in 47 years of investigative work," rang as a
loud endorsement of the case. Though I did no investigation myself, I ran the
piece after contacting some of Linda's friends in Los Angeles who I had met
previously. In The Konformist piece, the following opening blurb was written
by myself:

hands on that issue, and do what you can to stop this atrocity that
is even too mindblowing for me.>>
I try to be careful not to write anything that I can't stand behind in the
future. I feel regret for writing this, for I can't stand behind the last
sentence, which was a blanket endorsement for all that followed, despite the
fact I made no investigation of my own.
Since this was published, much has changed. Clayton Douglas has now written a
persuasive piece in his magazine debunking the original article. Ted
Gunderson, whose statement propelled me to publish the story, has since
reversed his statement, though he has not stated (to my knowledge) whether he
thinks it is a fraud or not. And John DeCamp, who wrote "The Franklin
Coverup" and was formerly Linda's lawyer, has also explained that he has
serious doubts about her story.
I have also spoken by phone to another former lawyer of Linda's, and he has
been quite insistent that her story is false. Here is his email:

I reviewed your article on the "Sightings" web site, and it is critically
flawed. Please check out the July issue of the Free American, which sets a
lot of the wrong "facts" straight. Even the little part in which I was
referenced is dead wrong. I was the Rutherford Institute lawyer referred
to in the article. I went back and checked the correspondence to
Wilkinson's attorney, and the negotiated solution is not even close to what
she claims it is. Virtually every statement on that page is a lie. In
fact, I have not seen so many lies in so little space since Bill Clinton's
state of the union speech.
Write if you wish, and I will send you some documents which show that the
children were probably not abused at all, that they are doing well, and
that Linda is using this scam to enrich herself at the expense of her two
little boys.
I am not afraid to identify myself, and set the record straight.

As for myself, I simply do not know what is the truth here. I found Clay's
expose rather persuasive, and yet so was the original piece. I met Linda
Wiegand, and found her to be a very credible woman, but I also found Mr.
Hession to be quite credible. I must go on the facts in this case and not
emotion. And there are not enough facts here for me to have any opinion on
this case.
I do not regret printing "The Linda Wiegand Nightmare". I do regret printing
it with my advocacy. I keep it on because to not include it would be a
whitewash of my error. I will leave the original piece on my website, and let
you the reader decide what is true. I have not heard back from Bo Gritz
(unsurprising, because he is a busy man), but if I do, or if I get any more
information from Linda and her supporters, I will publish it. But as for
myself, I am afraid I am too much of the story to have any objective opinion.

This is the BEGINNING of the story on Linda Wiegand. The entire story,
with affadavits, will appear in the July issue of the Free American. We
are releasing this portion EARLY due to Linda and Bo's attack on John
Trochmann and myself. I have been accused of being a draft dodger, a
"Hell's Angel" and a drug dealer. We have both been accused of being
government agents. These accusations are lies, as are the rest of Linda
Wiegand's story. This is not, nor ever has been, an attack on Bo Gritz.
His defense and promotion of Linda Wiegand is the only reason his name
appears in this story. Bo's attorneys have ALL the documents we have
used in compiling this story. You must be the judge of why Bo continues
to support Linda Wiegand by accusing all who oppose her of some kind of
crime, without a shred of evidence of their guilt, without the benefit of
a trial. Linda HAS had the opportunity to appear in court and has LOST
every time!

Bo Gritz, Champion of the Oppressed
Linda Wiegand's story is familiar to readers of the Free American
and thousands of others across this country and Canada. Men and women
alike have shed tears as she told her story, again and again, at
churches, patriot meetings, and on radio, of the rape of her boys by her
husband. Then of her flight to save them, her subsequent arrest and her
valiant effort to rescue the boys from the clutches of an alleged,
diabolical, Satanic cult of pedophiles consisting of judges, attorneys,
social workers and, of course, her ex-husband, Tom Wilkenson, who now has
custody of the children.
She has appeared on my program, the Free American Hour, Ted
Gunderson's and, many, many times on "Freedom Calls", Bo Gritz' popular
radio show on WWCR. Moved by her plight, Bo Gritz became her champion,
introducing her time and again at his speaking engagements, until her
problem became his. Less and less of his time was devoted to exposing
the New World Order as Linda became the focal point of his interest.
With Bo as her champion, and coverage given her by the Free
American and other publications, Linda was successful in her attempts to
"raise money to Free Jon and Ben". She began speaking at these
engagements herself, jetting around the country at a moment's notice to
speak at this church or that event. Literally hundreds of people have
sought to assist her in this righteous crusade, willingly becoming her
devoted servants.
When Bo Gritz and his son were arrested in Suffield, Connecticut,
charged with attempted kidnapping, Linda, already facing charges of
non-custodial parental interference, and two of Bo's SPIKE trained
friends who left town early, were not charged. Gritz's desire to help Jon
and Ben had now become intensely personal!
According to the Suffield police department, Gritz had arrived in
the small community and used aliases to rent hotel rooms. His SPIKE team
was equipped with two way radios. A private plane waited at the airport.
Using Linda's car, registered in Nevada under one of her aliases, Gritz
cruised the parking lot of the high school, where he was arrested with
lock picking equipment. The way he tells the story, he was in the high
school parking lot, where neither Jon nor Ben attended. According to the
police, the parking lot is actually between the high school and middle
school where Jon DOES attend.
Some troubling, unanswered questions are; why was Gritz arrested
for the attempted kidnapping of Linda's children and Linda was not; and
how did the police know that Bo was there in the first place?
A year after the incident, questions about Linda, her story and
her motives, were being asked by various individuals and organizations,
like John Trochmann of the Militia of Montana, and Keith and Kim Johnson,
of the "un-American Activities Investigation Commission". Certain
allegations were made, more questions being raised. Once those
allegations were brought up on the Free American Hour, I announced that I
would be doing an investigation, I, along with John Trochmann and Keith
Johnson, were savagely attacked by both Bo and Linda.
"I thought you were my friend," Linda said with a pout, on
another radio show where we both been invited to speak. I pointed out I
have no friends when I am writing a story. I also pointed out that I
thought, if her story was true, she should be happy that an investigation
was taking place..
"I used to think Clay Douglas was OK!" Bo boomed on his show one
morning. "But Satan has pulled the wool over his eyes."
Having completed the investigation, Bo was correct. . . Satan has
pulled the wool over a many eyes, including Bo and myself. But once I
began to question my assumptions, I began to see more clearly. . .and I
can see the two foot thick sweater Linda has knitted neatly around Bo's
head. It is soft to the touch, pleasant to look at, but impossible to see
through.
Of Course It's True!
We Have The Documentation!
The crux of the matter are the allegations of sexual and Satanic
abuse of Linda's children attributed to her ex-husband, Tom Wilkenson, by
the children themselves. These allegations were first made by four year
old Ben and six year old Jon in statements taken by Linda's doctor, Dr.
Steven Balsam and, a few days later, the authorities in Stowe, Vermont
in January of 1993. It is these statements that Bo Gritz reads on the
air to prove Linda's claims of sexual abuse. It is these statements that
Linda carries around to justify her actions. It is these statements that
form the basis of all future letters and statements of doctors,
investigators, psychiatrists, social workers, attorneys and child abuse
activists. These statements and carefully selected court documents have
been gathered on a website and compiled in an impressive, two inch thick
book called "Documentation - Wiegand Case" compiled by Dorothea Acosta,
who runs an organization called Reach Me, Inc. (She can be reached at
409-935-5183)
Once a researcher or casual observer reads the horrifying
accusations leveled at Tom Wilkenson in the court documents, they
naturally assume that there has been a severe miscarriage of justice and
write to the state or local officials expressing outrage and support for
Ms. Wiegand. This provides further documentation for Linda and goes into
the package.
She also hires attorneys with the proceeds from her fundraising,
filing suit after suit in other venues, (i.e. Vermont, New York, Federal
court, etc.) alleging interference with her civil rights or to sue the
judges, social workers and doctors who have found her allegations
baseless.
The problem is the facts she is presenting to the judges and
courts in other states are NOT facts but allegations! Every legitimate
court hearing has ruled in Tom's favor!
Linda's case has been decided in Connecticut, where she really
resides, her appeals exhausted, her allegations debunked, yet she still
plots, plans, pleads and pretends that she is the sole chance for her
children to live normal lives.
The truth is, as we have found by talking with the local police
in Simsbury, the principal of the middle school and friends of the
family, that the children ARE living normal lives, are in good health,
are NOT being abused now, are going to school, are being seen by health
care professionals, and are being watched closely by state agencies.
Their guardian, Tom Wilkinson, IS cooperating with the state, IS
appearing at scheduled hearings and IS trying to be a good parent.
From the evidence we have reviewed, including much of the
documentation provided by Linda, it is just as possible it was Linda who
was the abusive parent!
It was Linda who failed to discipline the children, who refused
to attend court proceedings, who ignored court orders, who kidnapped the
children from their home and it was Linda who has consistently lied about
the situation and events, all the while continuing to raise money for
herself, not the boys. No money has gone to buy clothes, shoes or child
support for the boys.
There is a story here, but it is a story about a possessive,
self-centered woman who cares little about her children's well-being and
is willing to resort to lying, cheating, stealing and kidnapping to keep
the children she is unwilling to share with anyone else.
For me, the most telling part of this story came in the explosive
confrontation between Bo Gritz, who is busy trashing anyone who refuses
to believe Linda, Linda Wiegand herself and John Trochmann on Gritz's
show, Monday, May 18, 1998.
Gritz asked Linda why she refused to take a paternity test to
determine who the father of Jon Wiegand was. Thinking this was to dispel
a rumor that Wilkenson may have been the father, Linda laughed at the
question as a baseless allegation. "Bill Wiegand was Jon's father. He
wanted the baby during the summers and I didn't want to give up MY new
baby. Besides, I was making plenty of money back then and I DIDN'T NEED
THE CHILD SUPPORT!"
In other words, Linda did not care about the father's rights.
She did not care if Jon knew his father. The only thing she cared about
was the TOTAL control of the child!
It was reported by her own friends, that the boys, Jon and Ben,
had become attached to Tom Wilkenson. Linda was reported to have been
very critical of Tom, about his beliefs, even to trying to tell him that
he MUST grow a mustache if the marriage was to work. She stated she did
not love him, as a spouse, but she liked the companionship. When HE
filed for divorce, on 9/23/92 she began her campaign to discredit him.

They Are All Pedophiles!
Let's Hang 'Em!
Wiegand tries to get her story into every newspaper or magazine
possible and has racked up an impressive list of talk show hosts who have
provided air time and, thus more donors to her campaign. Her drive is
undeniable, her determination, commendable, but her truthfulness, motives
and methods, questionable.
She would have her audience believe that the courts in
Connecticut are part of some vast conspiracy, run by a ring of
pedophiles that include judges, prosecutors, state agencies and police.
She has even put out a reward poster for information on a list of eleven
judges, attorneys, doctors, and of course, her ex-husband and his
relatives. She accuses these professionals of a long list of crimes;
child sexual abuse, conspiracy to commit child sexual abuse, child
pornography, blackmail, fraud, perjury, tax evasion, slander, libel,
falsification of documents and reports and more. This poster, which
lists addresses and social security numbers, is really a fishing
expedition, hoping that the offer of a reward will bring out someone who
might know of some wrongdoing by the people she lists. None of the
people she names have ever been charged with any of these crimes, with
the exception of the charges she managed to get in Vermont against her
husband. (Which were later dropped) This list of crimes originates only
from her mind. Her own detectives failed to find any link between these
people and her husband, or any evidence of any of the crimes on her list.
Ironically, most of the charges she levels are crimes that SHE may have
committed, as we will see.
