ANTI-FASCIST VICTORY IN COUER D'ALENE
or If You Confront Them They'll Go Away

The incredibly small turnout by the Aryan Nations at their nationally
advertised demonstration showed the accuracy of the analysis used by
anti-fascists to challenge the march.

The fascists turned out all of 20 people. They had 100 during last
year's march in Couer d'Alene; they had another 100 hardcore supporters
who showed up a week earlier to help build the action.

But the anti-fascists also showed up for the Aryan's preliminary 4 July
weekend event. After this confrontation, the organizers did not even
stay in the city to build the action some travelled half-a-continent to
organize. They turned around and went home.

In other words, the fascists not only failed to attract new supporters
to their demonstration but also lost 80% of their march organizers!

This again shows the cowardly character of fascism. The recent decade
of fascist crimes in the United States shows they can engage in all
matter of heinous crimes in secrecy or from ambush. They can burn
churches, desecrate synagogues, assassinate Black people walking down
the street, bomb abortion clinics, and launch murderous assaults on gay
people.

This is the reality behind the myth of the "heroic Aryan warrior."

Ignoring fascists doesn't make them go away; confronting them does.

Everything went smoothly, in my opinion. The Aryans were free to
march and speak. Their opposers were also free to march and speak. It
seems the only real problem arose when CdA tried to shove the Aryans out
to the city dump (a near-fascist move, in my opinion).Thankfully the ACLU
was there to defend EVERYONE.
My hat goes off to the ACLU for looking past the ideals of the
individual groups and instead applying their focus on liberty and freedom
of expression for all.
