CenterPoint Energy will be providing an information session on the opportunities that they have at their company for upcoming and recent graduates.

 

The following are the descriptions of the openings. Please come and bring copies of your resumes.

 

This information will be Monday, March 23, 2009 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in SOM 1.508. Please spread the word.

IT Associate

CenterPoint Energy has a diverse Information Technology group offering several areas for upcoming or recent graduates to kick off an exciting career.  Opportunities are available for qualified candidates to either specialize in one of the areas below or go through a rotation program customized differently for each individual to find the best fit for their career and CenterPoint Energy.

End User ServicesWant to help people and fix things?

In this group you will provide assistance on first, second and third -level problems reported to the Information Technology Client Support Center regarding support of end user operations.  In addition you will also acquire knowledge of Personal Computers, Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, Mainframe and Network Communications equipment. You will also have the ability to learn to repair a variety of PC/Printer hardware and obtain basic knowledge in Call Center and Telecommunication operations. 

 

Infrastructure How would you like to work in the heart of a major data center?

In our Infrastructure group you will assist in performing tasks associated with operating both mainframe and distributed computing environments in accordance with detailed instructions. In this role you’ll be part of an elite team of individuals all contributing to the support and architecture of large scale highly available systems on varied platforms. Furthermore, you have the opportunity to continually build your personal knowledge base to support a variety of hardware and software products on some of the latest technology available in a very forward thinking and progressive group. We keep our focus on the present with an eye on tomorrow.

 

System Design and Development Do you like to develop applications or configure systems?

As a programmer analyst, software developer, or SAP configuration analyst/developer, you will assist with planning, development, testing, and maintenance of applications within several environments.  You will be a part of monitoring and controlling enterprise applications, perform system recovery in the event of hardware/software failures, execute first-line and second-line problem diagnostics, write code, and maintain systems.  Your career will expand as you gain software development life cycle knowledge in a variety of systems and languages. 

 

These positions also offer you the opportunity to interface with clients at all organizational levels to plan, develop, evaluate, assess or modify applications in support of various business units.
