Dear Sir/Madam;

This issue is mainly of concern for the SR SECTION.  As u all are aware of the PERMANENT damage being caused to our lovely kids by excess weight of school bag. Even the govt of India is considering the ways to reduce it, but should be wait for a formal circular to save our very own kids? As a standard the weight should always be less than 10% of the body weight. I suggest the following to achieve it:-

1. LOCK LESS drawer to individual student and may be built on the desk itself.
2. Common copy for all subjects. Often it is seen that some copies are hardly used.
3. Timing of 1 period may be increased from the present 40 mins (ASSUME) to 1 hour & accordingly no of subjects  per day is reduced to 5

Your suggestion and cooperation is solicited. PTA is requested to take URGENT action on the matter.

Regards;

This is indeed a pressing concern-my son is in class XII and already has a severe problem with his shoulder.

In my opinion-since the teachers are usually teaching in lecture mode-the kids can just carry their notebooks to school-as it is all assigments are given as homework so the text books can be kept at home

Dear Fellow Parents,

My input is basis what I did while at school. I would have a notebook size file cover (something like the photograph below) and I would carry a couple of pages of paper. I would file them back into a subject file cover end of week. I don't know if this will work in today's scenario.

Your thoughts please

Warm Regards
Anshul

I think this is an important issue, on which the school may need to be educated. Maybe, the parent representative can take a look at http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-enforce-cap-on-school-bag-weight-within-reasonable-time-period-bombay-high-court-2107568.

I  understand that all teachers expect every student to have their subject textbook in each class. One might instead experiment with coordinated arrangements like division of days when different subject books are required, or pairing of students where they divide subjects and share one book in class.
