Dear Parents;
The choice of paying the MINDSPARK fees should hv been kept optional & not compulsory, as has been done by the MIS management. The mindspark just provide TWO nos of 10 pages hard copy of problems against a payment of Rs. 3600. Further all are not equipped with INTERNET. For them it is just a waste of money.
I came to know that most of the kids while accessing MINDFSPARK through net in the classroom go for the games instead of problem solving.(u may confirm it through own sources as well).
In fact, they should have provided a hard copy of problems on daily basis for the parents to see & decide.

Further, recently, with the change of bus routes, about 5 extra stops hv been added to route no, MIS-3 & the no of stops hv become 16 which is the highest of all. The av no of stops with all other buses is just 5. It is a clear discrimination against select few & will definitely harm in the long run.

Vikash Kumar

I would like to raise an even more fundamental aspect re MIndspark. We have subscribed for a year now -- although in my son's class a large number of mindspark sessions were cancelled in favor of some other activity. Nevertheless, an evaluation of the impact of the subscription has to be considered critically. Did the collective ability of MIS students go up? Is there an objective measure before and after?

Dear Mr Banerjee,

What is the PTA view on the following for the Academic Session 2013-14.

1) The new bus routes notified have created a lot of confusion and are not properly planned. The parents were not consulted on the reorganisation of routes.

2) The School is charging Rs. 3600/- as annual fees for Mindspark (does not have CBSE approval) ostensibly to cross subsidise the EWS category of students.
Mindspark is for classes 1 to 10. Each class has 5 sections making it a total of 50 sections. Each section has an average of 35 students. Total no of students are 1750 making the total fee collection to Rs.63 lacs. The average number of students who are to be fully cross subsidised by the school will be 77.

Is a figure available how many EWS students have been admitted by the School and how much will be utilised for this cross subsidy since a part reimbursement is also being made by the Delhi Govt.again this has not been discussed with the parents, it has just been added in the fees and parents have to pay up.

No one is questioning the thought behind the cross subsidy but should the school not take the parents into confidence before unilaterally implementing it.

Subject: Re: Monthly Planner?

Dear Parents,

I have discussed the matter of monthly planner with the Principal Madam. Last term the whole syllabus of the term II was put up on the MIS parent portal. This time I have requested for uploading monthly syllabus to be covered. For class IX the syllabus with monthly coverage has been given by some subject teachers. Others I am hoping would come out soon. Principal Madam has given me assurance that it will be done soon.

Infact one of the issues that parents of Class XI were requesting was combination of Psychology and Biology in Class XI. It has now been offered after a lot of discussion and persuasion.

I thought  I will share with you these. A lot of parents helped me in this regard. My sincere thanks to you all.

best regards

Dear Sir

One thing that is amiss in MIS is monthly planner that gives parents an idea about daily activities planned in the school for each subject. Parents should be notified at the start of academic year for day-to-day plan of each month (at least for major tasks, chapters to be covered etc.).This is a common practice followed in all the leading schools.

Also, in summer, do you think school start timings could be pre-poned a little, could be even for sports activities.

Would appreciate your thoughts.

The Bus route confusion has arisen because no systematic survey of the routes were undertaken. The Transport dept is handled by by a single person Mr Amit who is quite clueless of the actual routes.

I have personally pointed out the irrationality of MIS 3 route wherein the route is very long and roundabout ie it starts from Munirka goes to Vasant Kunj and comes back to Munirka. This happens when when school issues are forced upon parents without discussing with them.

It doesn't make a difference to DTC as they gain by the bus cov ering more kms. a case in point is MIS 1 it starts from Vasant Vihar Depot traverses the entire Nelson Mandela Marg turns left below the flyover and proceeds to Sector D-1 near Andheria Mode where the first student alights adistance of 9 kms is travelled by the Bus with no students on board. To and fro 18 kms extra is travelled for which there is no justification.
