Hi All!
Just curious to know how many parents feel that Monday is the right day for holding cycle tests?
Of course there are those who feel that weekend gives their child time to prepare for the test. However I feel that Sunday is the only day when one can relax together as family as many parents ( like me) do not have sat. off plus children too get only alternate sat. off.

Excellent question by Dr Chaturvedi.

I don't find any logic or reasoning behind monday tests or tests immediately after long breaks...

Kids & parents need to spend some time together & have some playful time but kids are always stressed so we are...sat & Sundays are family time.

Thanks for bringing this up!
We agree and feel it is really cutting into family time on Sundays as we are pushing our child to study on Sunday!
Indeed this topic was brought up during orientation for class VIth this year, and the principal answered that if it is some other weekday such as Tuesday a lot of students take leave on monday, so we will have to deal with this.
We too support the test on some weekday besides Monday.

Even presently when the cycle tests are scheduled for Mondays many students take leave on Saturdays, so taking leave should not be an excuse to schedule it on Mondays.

Also I feel that kids need a break from studies on weekends as they also need to have some time to pursue their non academic interests.

I think it got included in the wrong thread. (Apologies for reposting.)

The purported advantage of Monday tests is that the weekend is when children finally have some time to study and prepare (and parents have time to help). But this defeats the whole point of CCE. Tests are not supposed to be a disruption for which you stress on preparing (perhaps de-focussing from learning). Learning ought to be a continuous process.

I would strongly support a change of the standing date and let weekends be time to refresh and pursue extra-curricular activities. Maybe, Wednesday? Or, even Friday? Maybe, we can evaluate both sides of the argument and if parents agree, our representatives can seek school's response to this and discuss if there is a pedagogic reason for Monday tests.
