Jacket Joyce, thanks for the update.
Nitin, Jaijit, Sujata, Joyce – thanks to you and all for all your hard work in putting this event together. I know there are more people involved, please convey my gratitude to them as well.
I am in Bangalore the week of the 21st and am hence planning on being in Delhi the weekend of the Re-Union. Please let me know of the logistics – the time (the time to be there…not the time published on the invites), the venue, the dress code (please order a jacket for I and Nisha – it will be a cool momento).
I look forward to meeting old friends.
Cheers
Akash

Subject: Minutes of Meeting - 15th Dec
Hi,
Prashant happened to be in town and some of us decided to catch up with him today at Ambience Mall , Delhi.
We were 11 of us, and we thought it was a good occasion to discuss some of the issues related to the reunion on 26th. Here are the minutes of the meeting :
Participants : Joyce, Sanjit, Sujoy, Prashant, Saumya, Archana, Shaarul, Amitava, Leena , Nitin. Jaijit came in late.
1. Core committee
Since 3 people from the core committee have dissociated themselves from it, for all practical purposes, there is no core committee. However, things need to move on, and they certainly will. People heading sub committees are therefore requested to now kindly lead the execution to ensure everything goes on smoothly. At all points in time, information should be shared with everyone else and all of us need to have faith and trust in the execution of these committees. If anyone has ANY query or doubt, please place such concerns directly on email keeping everyone informed so that these can be suitably addressed. I request all batchmates NOT to have side conversations with individuals/WhatsApp to voice or raise concerns. I guarantee you , if you raise any concern, no one is here to ridicule, hurt or admonish you. Come forth, and all of us will help address your doubt.
2. Food
Nitin has done some super stuff on the food. All of us are proud of the fact that the menu has been rationalised without compromising on quality and from kulfi to idlis to chaat, folks will be truly spoilt for choices.
Two caterers have been shortlisted. I request Nitin to kindly choose the one who he deems most fit, and also request Sujata to help release the advance.
All of us need to rally behind Nitin on this one. Anyone wishing to support Nitin in any way, please give him a call.
3. School gift
A budget of Rs.50,000 has been sanctioned for this. From previous emails, it appears that the school has asked for a projector. Anyone who can help procure a good quality projector at this price, please let us know immediately so that the funds can be released and the item procured.
4. Teacher's gifts
There was not too much discussion on this point. Some people are still hurt and touchy about this issue. I urge and recommend the two teams - the group which has procured, and the group which was supposed to procure to please have a conversation amongst each other and sort this out. There is nothing more disappointing than to see two old friends not seeing each other in the eye.
5. The most contentious issue - the jacket
Nitin informed us of the following concerns :
- Not everyone wants a jacket
- If everyone does not want a jacket, but we land up making one for everyone, how do we explain the expenditure to those who DO NOT want one
- We cannot impose our diktat on everyone
- The governing body of the school also does not want us to go overboard
From all other present around the table, the concerns stated were :
- It is not possible to consider everyone's opinion
- If we were to, for example , open up the food menu for discussion, 70 people will have 70 different opinions
- Majority opinion must prevail
There was however, common understanding on the following :
- We have the money to fund the jackets. Funds is not the concern.
- If we make the jacket from the fund, we will make for all who have contributed plus 10 extra.
- Everyone who comes in on 26th from the 89 batch will get one jacket
- For those of us who cannot attend but have contributed, some of us in Delhi will keep the jackets with us, and he/she can collect whenever they are on an India trip
I have been asked by the group therefore, to put the following points to all people marked on this email.....
- Some of us do not want a jacket. If you don't, please let us know. If you do not want the whole group to know, please write in to me on my email ID - s.ni...@gmail.com. As I said before, your concern in our concern, we have no intention of ridiculing you or making you stand out. We respect your opinion. Kindly do not post on Whatsapp or have any individual conversations with anyone.
- You will appreciate that getting jackets made for 70 odd people will take time and effort. Hence, it will be really great if you can please let us know your concern latest by 18th Dec, Wednesday.
- After we receive the list of all who do not want a jacket, for the remaining folks, we will make the jacket from the funds collected so far. Again here, if anyone has any objection or concern, kindly do write back. The cost of one jacket from FabIndia is around Rs.1400, there is a discount of 10% which is on offer. To the team which met today, I have shown the jacket sample, folks liked what they saw. Hence, for 70 people, we expect the total cost to be approximately a lakh.
- From Thursday onwards, I will start coordinating on the jacket sizes.
Thanks for your patience on this. I must also say, there was no sign of any acrimony whatsoever. All your dear friends had a wild time today, and I can tell you this, those of you who are going to Neemrana, better get ready for the time of your life !!!
Once again, please do write in if you have any concerns. We should be in a position to send out the latest update on the collections sometime next week and also keep you informed of the planned expenditure on Thursday.
Stay good wherever you are.
