Hello Phil,

Is there a difference between the bifactor IRT model and testlet response theory (TRT)? I always thought TRT is a bifactor model with a general factor and some specific factors (each testlet is considered a specific factor). However, in some papers I have seen that researchers have compared a bifactor model and a testlet model for a dataset. This implies that they are different models. Can you please explain? Thanks for your help.

Best

Afshin
