Hello all,

If I want to calculate DIF for age, what would be the best way to decide which split for age is the most appropriate? Is a simple median split sufficient? References on this subject would be much appreciated.

thx.

Data splitting this way is often dangerous unless you have theoretical reason to do so. And, unfortunately, mirt is currently organized only to support discrete grouping variables when investigating DIF. You may want to see the lavaan package and how to construct models such as the MIMIC variants for DIF (Dan Bauer has published a good deal of information in this area). HTH.
