Stephen,

So if it I got it right it works for Earth but not for it's neighbors? Can it be because of a wrong ellipsoid?
I have here "one Moon" grid and it worked fine. It has embedded the referencing system which in proj4 syntax is

+proj=longlat +a=1737400 +b=1737400 +no_defs

can you try by setting the ellipsoid like this (and the same for Venus/Mars)?

The "C:\maps/image.jpg" instead of  "...C:\maps\image.jpg" should not matter because Windows deals equally well with paths with back or forward slashes but ML compiler had an annoying bug that showed last dis always as '//' so I made it the way it is now. Regarding the size issue, I'll investigate that.

Joaquim

Hi Joaquim,

Thanks so much for your help with this, and I think the program is doing better. The Earth map I made in Mollweide projection came out very nice, fixing some minor edge problems near the poles, and of course you cleaned out the portions outside of the elliptical area of the map.

There still seem to be some problems with my Moon, Mars, and Venus maps that I've attached below. When I run them through the Mollweide projection, they appear to miss some data in different regions. For the Moon and Mars maps, the last few degrees of longitude are missing, while for the Venus map, the last few degrees of latitude (near the south pole) are missing. There are also small symmetric gaps at the edges of the projection on each map (these are quite small on the Venus map, on the left and right upper portion).

Incidentally, there are a couple of other changes in the program's behavior that I noticed--maybe inadvertent changes when you worked on this. In the dialogue box for saving the images, the directory is normally listed as "...C:\maps\image.jpg" but it now says "C:\maps/image.jpg". Also the image is saved in the original size regardless of the size I enter in the dialogue.

By the way, I'd be happy to use the google groups. That's new to me--can you give me the address for it?

Best regards,
---Steve

Stephen,

I may have fixed it. If you are using the standalone version, can you update and try again (to update just "Help -> Check for updates")?

Dear Prof. Luis,

I've enjoyed trying out your excellent program Mirone (the Windows standalone version on a 64-bit machine).

I wonder if you have encountered the following problem, or if I am using inappropriate data. I have tried loading both lunar and martian global elevation maps, and I wanted to make Mollweide projections of these datasets. I find, however, that there is always a gap left at the ends of the map. I've attached a small image of a Moon map to illustrate what I mean. The same happens with Mars data.

Do you have any idea of how I might correct this?

Many thanks,
---Steve Schneider
