(school13 students: please read the whole message)!
As is tradition around the CARMA summerschool, there will be a new release,
dubbed "school13" (VERSION 4.3.6 it will be) within the next week.
The summerschool starts Sunday July 28.
A beta release in binary form for 4 architectures is now available in
ftp://ftp.astro.umd.edu/progs/carma/miriad_2013.7
These contain both ds9 and the karma (kvis, kpvslice etc.) toolkit as well.
The wiki on
http://carma.astro.umd.edu/wiki/index.php/Miriad contain
more background information
on what you need to have on your linux or mac distro in order to use a
binary release or build from source.
In particular for the 21 new summerschool students on this mailing list,
I highly recommend
(hint: homework) you to download this beta release, and run the sanity
test on
http://carma.astro.umd.edu/wiki/index.php/Sanity_tests
but don't bother with the last two 'software development' sections
unless you really like
to get bonus points.
here's a sample set of commands for mac 10.8 users to install and ready
miriad for use:
install:
curl
ftp://ftp.astro.umd.edu/progs/carma/miriad_2013.7/miriad_mac10.8.tar.gz
| tar zxf -
cd miriad
install/make_miriad_starts
use:
source miriad_start.csh
