VRAD --> Velocity conversion in the cube?

Dear all,

I have a cube which has ctype 3: VRAD. SO, when I create 1st moment or 0th moment, the result is not correct, because of the velocity taken as VRAD I think. ctype 3 should be in VELOCITY.

I think task 'regrid' handles this (it says so in the help file) but I could not figure it out which keyword actually does this.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance!

best,

Peter Teuben

Maybe use puthd to change ctype3. Who created this cube?

Look at the image history to see where the VRAD comes from.
Where does the data come from ?

Dear Melvyn and Peter,

First of all, many thanks for the quick reply.

These are not CARMA data, I have some additional data from PdBI. After creating the cleaned cube in GILDAS, I first convert them into fits file, then I convert them in Miriad format. I do all the analysis related to the moment maps etc in Miriad, which is faster, easier and powerful. I used PdBI data before for further analysis in Miriad and there was no such problem, but this time.

However, I converted the PdBI cube into Miriad cube again and now everything somehow seems ok. I really did not understand what happened and ctype 3 had the value of VRAD, but everything seems fine now and ctype 3 has 'velocity' as it should be. Moments maps therefore seem ok.

Many thanks again!

Perhaps GILDAS has changed, but since this is a path that may be taken by more,
I would think we (MIRIAD developers) should also recognize VRAD as an alias for VELOCITY
