Hi Peter,
I think I have MIRIAD up and running but I might be having the same issue with the "WIP: a pgplot based plotting package" section as others.
Here are my responses from the sanity check:
Miriad% wip -d /xs
Could not open user's WIP initialization file /Users/Ben9000/.wipinit
Setting up default device [/xs]
Welcome to WIP Version: 2.3.10 16jul2013
WIP> box
WIP> end
Other than the comments above this seemed to work fine. Opened a window and displayed a box.
Miriad% wip -d /gif
Could not open user's WIP initialization file /Users/Ben9000/.wipinit
Setting up default device [/gif]
Welcome to WIP Version: 2.3.10 16jul2013
WIP> box
Didn't seem to work, the box command sent be back to the Miriad prompt and I couldn't open the resultant file.
Miriad% wip -d /ps
Could not open user's WIP initialization file /Users/Ben9000/.wipinit
Setting up default device [/ps]
Welcome to WIP Version: 2.3.10 16jul2013
WIP> box
WIP> hardcopy
HARDCOPY: Spooling command:
WIP> end
Seems to work, results in a file I can view.
Miriad% wip -d /xs
Could not open user's WIP initialization file /Users/Ben9000/.wipinit
Setting up default device [/xs]
Welcome to WIP Version: 2.3.10 16jul2013
WIP> image map0
Image size: 256 by 256.
WIP> header rd rd
WIP> halftone
Getting image max and min...done.
WIP> end
This one works fine too.
As you requested in your last email here are my outputs:
Miriad% cd $MIR/install

Please let me know if there is something I can do to fix this if it is a problem. Sorry I'm doing this so close to the start of the school.
Thanks,
Ben
