We have been switching off weeks with guided meditations with the Class sessions. Last week we had the Election Meditation. Our last class session we followed a Forgiveness Meditation. This week we will do a meditation that is called a Gratitude Meditation. This Meditation will open you up to experiencing more gratitude in your life. Having a sense of gratitude in our life steers us away from all the upsetting thoughts, issues, situations and problems. We are remembering that we are abundant. And this is not just in relation to physical form. You will find that as you proceed you will find a deep inner gratitude for All That Is.

GRATITUDE MEDITATION

  • Sit in a comfortable, quiet place, relax your body, close your eyes and simply be aware of your breath going in and out. Focus on just the breath for a little while.
  • Now we will focus on gratitude in this meditation. Begin by thinking of all the things, people, ideas, etc. that you are grateful for in your life and state as such “I am grateful for...this meditation....I am grateful for..my spouse...I am grateful for...my job....I am grateful for...my spiritual path....” and so on.
  • As you do each one repeat it slowly to yourself. Feel the love that it invokes within you and extend that love outward.
  • If after some time you become blank, go back to focusing on your breath feeling the sense of love and gratitude that you have just created. More gratitude will come to you. Just allow it to come.
  • The two focuses here are gratitude and breath. If you become distracted by extraneous thoughts or sounds in the environment, go back to the breath to ground you.
  • If you get to a space of complete peace, love and gratitude, stay there for as long as you feel guided.
  • Do this meditation as often as you need.
