Hi everyone,

Well, I love this sharing from our beloved Rev. Deb.  Perhaps none of us is ready for 20 minutes of sitting meditation per day much less 60 minutes, yikes!

I was sitting in meditation several years ago twice a day for 30 minutes.  I worked my way up to it, certainly, from 5 to 10 to 15, etc., minutes until I was able to pretty easily sit for 30 but it was done over time.

I believe that was the point in Rev. Deb’s having us reread the introduction to the Workbook Lessons.  We just practice, we don’t have to believe what we’re practicing, we just have to have a little willingness to have the work done for us, same with meditation.

SO…I say, start with baby steps.  If 5 minutes is too much, try just 2 or 3 until you are able to watch the insanity of the ego system for that duration without feeling compelled to act on whatever “it” says is so darn urgent that you must/I must get up right away.

OK, about the homework, I think what I will do before we initiate our sharing after the meditation I will lead you through is ask HS for his Help in this process.  We will not have the time, we’ll take about 30 minutes to go over every exercise in its entirety so it may be HE will want each of us to share which one assisted us the most in more easily getting still, silent and serene….and if none worked, hey, it’s all right.  Again, meditation like the Workbook is a process not because it’s hard, it isn’t, but because we have so much resistance to it.

Like most of us, I have been through the Workbook multiple times and there are still lessons I feel I have never “seen” before.  Like many of us, I have meditated on and off for decades and I still find it difficult, at times impossible, to breathe deeply and still my “monkey” mind.

Anyhow….I have also decided I will include one or two benefits of meditation from the article Rev. Deb had us read last week, it will help, I believe, to reinforce what we can expect when we truly commit to this practice.

If you have any questions prior to class, shoot away.  Oh, also, we will ask HS which reading among those for Week 2 would be most meaningful to the group and then proceed to read it together.

I love this class and I love all of you!

Gayle

-- If you can't read the image above, it says:

You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes every day - unless you're too busy; then you should sit for an hour.

~Old Zen adage.

If you are not signed up for our new class "Meditation In and With ACIM", why not sign up for it now? We've only started last night and you can listen to the audio. You do not have to call in if you cannot on Thursday evenings as we do record each class. Why not invite meditation into your life?

Just a note.

Gayle has meant to send this to our new 6 week class Meditation In and With ACIM. This is a different class than our ongoing Meditation Class. I know some of you are already in both.

Thanks,
Rev. Deb
