Thanks for the try you made on this and good effort when we are at a point where we are unable install the db2V9
FP 3 .You made a trail..BETTER LATE THAN NEVER...

I appreciate your hardwork..

Coming to the problem yes you may be right because in the server which i tried the change password OS is Zlinux
and its a product from IBM for Zseries..and i was able to see the pam_pwcheck.so in the /lin/security folder may
be you are missing this as this is a product of Zlinux..

Now i want you have a trail by commenting the line in that db2 file..I am not sure wether it will work .But
better to try with out accepting the defeat..If it wont we have to see the alternative...

Once again i appreciate your efforts keep up and continue this spirit..

As per the document provided by you I have gone through all the steps but still i have a problem

while changing the password i am getting a problem like security processing failed at the server.

SAMPLE OUTPUT:
[bhasker@mirdev97 ~]$ db2 connect to sample user bhasker using bhasker

i expect this might be causing a problem

NOTE : my db2 file in /etc/pam.d is like this (as per document ):

auth required pam_unix.so nullok
account required pam_unix.so
password required pam_pwcheck.so nullok tries=1 (i dont have this pam_pwcheck.so in my /lib/security)
password required pam_unix.so nullok use_authtok use_first_pass
session required pam_unix.so
