My ci20 board is always freezing with debian and android

Hallo,

 

I have tried the debian distribution and the android kitkat version on my ci20-board. After a time ago it always freeze the screen and at all (no ssh any more or other network connections). I have also run the memtest program but couldn't find any memory error. The board is especial under having load (compiling) very quickly (after 2 or 3 minutes) freezing!

 

Environment: Purple board, Debian 2014-06-25 & 2015-02-02 image and android 2014-11-26-v0.3 image, USB-Keyboard & Mice, HDMI 1.4 TV-Screen. Ambient ~25degC. PSUs, 1A USB chargers but no forther devices.

Hi Joerg,

Welcome to the forum.

We have a few boards that are facing memory issues.
It is still a work-in-progress to fix them in software with DDR timing adjustments.

To narrow down issues with your board

Could you please check the following.

Boot debian

In terminal
$ free

This will give you an indication of how much memory is free.

Then

$ sudo memtester 700

Leave this running overnight/hours. (unless it fails/hangs)

Then could you please try running buildroot from the sd card.

http://elinux.org/CI20_Distros#Buildroot

And then similar.

$ free
$ sudo memtester 800

Let this run for a few hours/overnight and we'll see if you get memory errors.

I have just started the new Buildroot image with the memtester 800 and
it immediately gave me

Stuck Address : testing 5FAILURE: possible bad address line at offset
0x1862f300.
Random Value : -[ 300.64...] JZ4780-EFUSE: vddq_set 0

(and the board still froze inside the memtest at)
Solid Bits : setting 44

Hi Zubair,

are you fixed this DDR timing problem? I have the same problem with freezing during onboard compilation. Memtester show nothing, also as terminal connected to serial port.
