Advocacy vs. Lobbying - A Dandelion Gathering |
Dandelion Gatherings are for nonprofit leaders designed to inspire, equip, and connect us with one another as we work toward building a just and thriving society in a rapidly changing nonprofit landscape. This one, presented by MCR, deals with the complications of organizations speaking out for their causes.
Nonprofits that deal with social issues and community needs are often left in a challenging middle ground between service and advocacy. When policy issues present challenges and opportunities, how can organizations use their platforms to push for change? This session will address how community organizations can protect themselves when it comes to policy. |
On the Blog: My Hometown, Minneapolis - Reflections from MCRs Content Creator |
Although a Detroit resident for over a decade, MCRs Digital Content Creator, Andrew Smith, is originally from Minneapolis.
In light of the past winter's events, Andrew shares in this blog post his reflections on the city he grew up in, the culture that informed their resistance during the ICE surge, and the sense of community that directly informs how people show up for their neighbors. The piece, while personal, is informed by questions about sustained community resilience, which is a sphere that MCR operates in daily. |
