few days back one of my friends was discussing with me about the days back in Chidambaram and the songs we used to hear; in the discussion I found the songs that I heard back in 70s were probably still well remembered and we went on categorising the best songs on the basis of "மனதைத் தொடும் பாடல்கள்"
we found that only some bharathiyar songs and some religious songs were listed and topping the list were the religious songs!
analysing, I found three reasons: young age when they made first impact, the exquisite rendering by the singer and the lyrics!
I am intending to list these 12 songs . The list has no order of 1st and 2nd;
A) Iraivanidam kaiyendhugal! ( I am listing this now because I recently found a "hindu" version)
EM hanifa; a voice of extreme clarity; I used to hear this song repeatedly in three places: in my house in my murphy radio from akashwani; in my friend raja's house, and in the mosque garden adjacent to my residence:
the original recording was some 3.2 minutes; but I found an extra-ordinary rendering by EMH in his old age; the voice was still having the metallic timber and the rendering showed his maturity to bring the nuances!
Later rendering (in 2010, when he was in late 80s!!! and the voice was still growing strong!!!)
and a "hindu" or a secular rendering removing the word allah (அல்லாஹ் ) and replacing it with aandavan (ஆண்டவன் ) by vithal maharaj!
