விடுமுறை:

உலகம் முழுவதுக்கும் பொதுவான விடுமுறை நாள் என எதுவும் கிடையாது. புத்தாண்டு, கிறிஸ்துமஸ், ஞாயிறு, தீபாவளி...ம்ஹ்ம்ம்...மேதினம் கூட உலகெங்கும் பொதுவான தொழிலாளர் தினமாக கொண்டாடப்ப்படுவதில்லை.

சுதந்திரதினம்/ தேசியதினம் இல்லாத நாடுகள் உலகில் இரண்டு மட்டுமே. ஜப்பான், இங்கிலாந்து. வரலாற்றில் இந்த இரு நாடுகளின் தலைநகரங்களில் அன்னிய நாடு எதன் கொடியும் பறந்ததே இல்லை. இங்கிலாந்தில் அரசியின் பிறந்தநாளே தேசிய விடுமுறைதினம். ஜப்பானில் மன்னர் ஒருவர் பதவியேற்ற நாள்.

கடவுள்:

தற்போதைய இங்கிலாந்து அரசியின் கணவர் பிலிப் (இளவரசர் சார்லஸின் தந்தை) வனநாட்டு எனும் குட்டி நாட்டில் 1974ல் விஜயம் செய்தார். அதுநாள்வரை வெள்ளையர்களை பார்த்தே இராத அத்தீவின் ஆதிகுடிகள் இவர் வந்ததையும், இவருக்கு கொடுக்கபட்ட மரியாதையையும் பார்த்து இவர் தான் கடவுள் என முடிவு செய்துவிட்டார்கள். அவரது படத்தை வைத்துகோயில் கட்டி வணங்கி, ப்ரிட்டிஷ் பத்திரிக்கையில் இது செய்தியாக வரவும், பிலிப் தான் கடவுள் அல்ல என சொல்லி அனுப்பினார். தீவுவாசிகள் கேட்காமல் அவருக்கு பன்றிபிடிக்கும் கோல் ஒன்றை அன்பளிப்பாக அனுப்பினார்கள். அதை பிடித்தபடி அவர் நிற்கும் போட்டோவை பார்த்து அவர் தான் கடவுள் என முடிவு செய்து குலதெய்வமாக வணங்கி வருகிறார்கள்.

மதம்:

உலகில் மசூதி இல்லாத ஒரே நாடு கியூபா. அங்கே 9000 முஸ்லிம்கள் இருந்தும் மசூதி கிடையாது. கட்ட அனுமதி இல்லை என்பதே காரணம். வடகொரியாவிலும் மசூதி இல்லாமல் இருந்தது. தன் தூரதரக ஊழியர்களுக்காக இரான் அரசு அங்கே ஒரு மசூதியை கட்டியது. அதைதவிர முஸ்லிம் வடகொரியர்கள் என யாருமே அங்கே இல்லை.

தனிமை:

உலகின் கடைசி மனிதன் என பதிவுகள் போட்டுவந்தார்கள். ஆனால் நிஜமாக அப்படி இருவர் உலகில் இருக்கிறார்கள். ஒருவர் உலகின் கடைசிபெண், இன்னொருவர் உலகின் கடைசி ஆண்.

1853ல் ஒரு வேட்டைகாரர் கலிபோர்னியா பகுதியில் உள்ள தீவில் சென்று இறங்கினார். அந்த தீவில் இருந்த பூர்வகுடியினர் எல்லாம் இறந்துவிட தனியாக ஒரே ஒரு பெண் மட்டும் கடைசியாக எஞ்சி இருந்தார். 18 ஆண்டுகள் தனிமைக்குபின் அவர் சந்தித்த மனிதர் இவர்தான். நகர்புறத்துக்கு வந்த ஆறு நாட்களில் அப்பெண் தொற்றுநோயால் இறந்துவிட்டார். "சான் நிக்கோலஸ் பெண்" என அழைக்கப்பட்ட இப்பெண் தன் குடியின் கடைசிபெண். அவர் பேசும் மொழி, இனம், கலாசாரம் எல்லாமே அவருடன் அழிந்தது,.

அதேபோல பிரெசில் காடு ஒன்றில் இப்போதும் தன் குடியின் கடைசி வாரிசாக ஒரு இளைஞன் இருக்கிறான். அவன் இருக்குமிடத்தை சுற்றி 31 மைல் பகுதியை பாதுகாக்கபட்ட பகுதியாக அறிவித்து அவனை காப்பாற்றி வருகிறது பிரெசில் அரசு. அவனை தொடர்புகொள்ள முயன்ற அரசு அதிகாரிகள் மேல் அவன் அம்புவிட்டதால் அவனை தொடர்புகொள்ளும் முயற்சியை கைவிடு விட்டது பிரெசில் அரசு. அவன் இறந்தால் அவனுடன் அவன் மொழி, கலாசாரம், மதம் எல்லாம் அழிந்துவிடும்.

எல்லாருக்கும் நிறைய நேரம் இருக்கு போல!

ஐந்து மாணவிகள் மடியில் ஒரு மாணவன் படுத்திருப்பது மாதிரி எடுத்த புகைப்படம். சும்மா விளையாட்டா எடுத்தது..பேஸ்புக்கில் போட பற்றிகொண்டு எரிந்தது பிரச்சனை

ஐந்து பேரையும் விசாரித்து சஸ்பெண்ட் செய்தது பள்ளி நிர்வாகம். மாணவிகளில் ஒருவரின் தந்தைக்கு இது தெரியவர பள்ளியிலேயே மகளை போட்டு அடித்ததில் ஆபத்தான நிலையில் அப்பெண் மருத்துவமனையில் அட்மின்ட் செய்யபட்டு உள்ளார்.

அரசியல்கட்சிகள், மாணவர் அமைப்புகள் எல்லாம் போராட்டத்தில் குதிக்க அந்த மாணவனும் அடையாளம் தெரியாதவர்களால் தாக்கபட்டு மருத்துவமனையில் உள்ளான்.

இடப்புறம் சும்மா உட்கார்ந்து இருந்த மாணவனுக்கு தண்டனை இல்லாமல் தப்பிவிட்டாலும் எப்ப யார் அடிப்பார்களோ என பயந்து கொண்டுள்ளான்

டில்லி, திகார் சிறையில் அடைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள அவன், பி.பி.சி., செய்தி நிறுவனத்திற்கு அளித்துள்ள பேட்டியில் கூறியதாவது: எங்களைப் போன்ற கற்பழிப்பு குற்றவாளிகளை தூக்கில் போடுவதால், கற்பழிப்புக்கு ஆளாகும் பெண்களுக்குத் தான் பாதிப்பு. கற்பழிக்கப்படும் பெண்ணை, சும்மா மிரட்டி விட்டு விடுபவர்கள் கூட, 'இவளை உயிருடன் விட்டால் நம்மை காட்டிக் கொடுத்து விடுவாள்' என நினைத்து, கொன்று விட வாய்ப்பு உள்ளது. டில்லியில் நடைபெற்றது ஒரு விபத்து. அந்த சம்பவத்திற்கு, அந்தப் பெண்ணும் ஒரு காரணம் தான். சும்மா இருந்திருந்தால், நாங்கள் அவளை கெடுத்து விட்டு விட்டிருப்போம். எங்களுடன் பலமாக போராடினாள்; ஆக்ரோஷமாக எதிர்த்தாள். அதனால் தான், நாங்களும் கொடூரமாக நடந்து கொள்ள வேண்டியதாகி விட்டது. நல்ல பெண்களுக்கு, ராத்திரியில் என்ன வேலை... 9:00 மணிக்கு மேல், காதலனுடன் ஊர் சுற்றிய அந்தப் பெண்ணை யாரும் குற்றம் சொல்லவில்லை. ராத்திரி ஆனா, வீட்டில இருக்க வேண்டிய பெண், ஊர் சுற்றலாமா? இவ்வாறு அவன் கூறியுள்ளான். தூக்கு தண்டனை கைதியான அவனிடம் எவ்வாறு, பி.பி.சி., செய்தி நிறுவனம் பேட்டி எடுத்தது என்பது விளக்கப்படவில்லை.

ஓடும் பஸ்சில் கொடூர செயல்:

கடந்த, 2012, டிசம்பர் 16ல், ஓடும் பஸ்சில், 23 வயது மருத்துவ மாணவி, ஆறு பேர் கும்பலால் பாலியல் பலாத்காரம் செய்யப்பட்டு, கொடூரமாக தாக்கப்பட்டாள். 13 நாள் சிகிச்சைக்குப் பிறகும், பலனளிக்காமல், சிங்கப்பூர் மருத்துவமனையில் உயிரிழந்தாள். அந்த கொடூர குற்றவாளிகளில், ஒருவன், சிறையில் தூக்கு போட்டு தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டான். மீதமுள்ள, ஐந்து பேரில், நான்கு பேருக்கு, தூக்கு தண்டனை விதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

​இவனைப் போன்ற மனிதாபிமானமற்ற கயவனிடம் அவனையும் மதித்து பேட்டி ஒன்று எடுத்து  அதனை பதிய வேண்டும் என்று என்ன அவசியமிருக்கின்றது? பத்திரிக்கைகள் இவற்றை இத்தகைய செய்தியை போடும் போது அவன் நீதி கூறியதை ஒரு செய்தி என முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுத்து பகிர்ந்திருப்பது மிக கண்டிக்கத்தக்கது. அப்படியே இருந்தாலும், இதற்குக் கீழ் தினமலரின் சமூக நீதி கருத்து என இரு வரிகளை இப்பத்திரிக்கை இணைத்திருக்கலாம். அதனைச் செய்யவில்லை.

பத்திரிக்கைகள் அதன் தார்மீகப் பொருப்பிலிருந்து நழுவி வெகு தூரம் செல்கின்றன என்பதை இது போன்ற பதிவுகள் காட்டுகின்றன.

இதே குற்றசாட்டில் ஜெயிலில் போடபட்ட இன்னொரு கைதியை சக கைதிகளே மலத்தை தின்ன வைத்து துன்புறுத்தியதால் அவன் தூக்கு போட்டுகொண்டு செத்தான். இவன் கொடுக்கும் இப்படிபட்ட பேட்டிகளால் கோபமடையும் கைதிகள் இவனுக்கும் அதே ட்ரீட்மெண்ட்டை கொடுக்கும் வாய்ப்பு உண்டு

இன்றளவும் பெண் ஆணின் ஒரு இன்பப்பொருளாகவே பார்க்கப்படுகிறாள். அதிலும் குமுகத்தின் கீழ்த்தட்டு மக்களில் உள்ள ஆண்கள் எப்போதும் கூட்டமாக சேர்ந்துகொண்டு இதையே பேசுகிறார்கள். நூறு ரூபாய்க்கு கீழும் விலைபேசும் விலைமகளிரை துய்த்து இவர்களே ஆதரவு தந்து வாழ்வளிக்கிறார்கள். அந்த அளவிற்கு இவர்களிடம் அறம் மிகவும் குன்றியிருக்கிறது. ஆனால் குமுகம் தம்மை பின்னுக்கு தள்ளி சுரண்டிவிட்டதாக தாழ்த்திவிட்டதாக மட்டும் புலம்புகிறார்கள்.

எனக்கும் துரை போலத்தான் தோன்றியது.  வீட்டில் தாலாட்டுப் பாடி பிள்ளைகளைத் தூங்க வைக்க உங்கள் உதவியை நாடியிருக்க மாட்டார்கள்.

இது போல அந்தக் காலத்தில் அதாவது...1974 - 1975 இல் ...நீங்கள் இன்னமும் பள்ளி செல்லாமல் கூ... கூ.... கா.... கா.... என்று மழலை பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்த காலத்தில் நடந்த கிரிக்கெட் கதையிது.

மேலும்... பந்தை அடிக்கும் பொது அதில் ஷர்மிளாவின் முகம் தெரிந்தது ...அதனால் அடிக்க முடியவில்லை....என்றெல்லாம்  அந்தப் உல்ட்டா பாடலில் வரிகள் உண்டு.

இந்த பாதகனை பிபிசி நிறுவனம் பேட்டி எடுத்து மகளிர் தினம் அன்று அப்பேட்டியை வெளியிட இருந்தது. சில தகவல்கள் லீக் ஆகி வந்ததும் மத்திய அரசு அப்பேட்டியை வெளியிட தடை விதித்துவிட்டது. காரணம் சிறையில் இருக்கும் கைதியிடம் சட்டபூர்வமாக பேட்டி எடுக்க அனுமதி இல்லை. பிபிசி நிறுவனம் சட்டத்தை மீறி அவனிடம் பேட்டி எடுத்தது எப்படி என்பதை விசாரிக்கவேண்டும்

Second Tihar notice to BBC for December 16 rapist interview

The announcement of an exclusive interview with December 16 gangrape accused, Mukesh Singh, to be aired on BBC on International Women’s Day on March 8, has kicked off a controversy, as to how the channel got the permission to interview the accused while the matter was subjudice.

The channel reportedly got the permission to interview the accused in 2013, before the decision of the city court convicting the accused in September 2013. According to sources, British filmmaker Leslee Udwin and the BBC were given permission to interview the bus driver Mukesh Singh on the condition that the documentary be vetted by the jail authorities and could be screened only after it was approved by authorities. The BBC is said to have agreed to this. However, they did not get the documentary footage approved by the jail authorities.

Tihar officials then sent a legal notice to the BBC in November 2014, sources said. The BBC did not reply to the notice. Tihar jail officials are now drafting a second notice. Tihar jail PRO Mukesh Prasad said, “We had sent the BBC a legal notice in November last year. But we got no reply. We are putting together a second one today.”

In 2012 an Indian student was violently raped on a moving bus in Delhi and died of horrific internal injuries. Leslee Udwin spoke to one of the rapists on death row while spending two years making a film about the case. She came away shocked by India's treatment of women - but inspired by those seeking change.

The horrifying details of the rape had led me to expect deranged monsters. Psychopaths. The truth was far more chilling. These were ordinary, apparently normal and certainly unremarkable men.

On 16 December 2012, the 23-year-old woman had been to see a film, the Life of Pi, with a male friend. At 8.30pm they boarded an off-duty bus, with six men on board, five adults and a juvenile. The men beat the friend and each raped the woman in turn, before assaulting her viciously with an iron instrument.

Mukesh Singh, the driver of the bus, described to me every detail of what happened during and after the incident. While prosecutors say the men took turns to drive the bus, and all took part in the rape, Singh says he stayed at the wheel throughout.

Along with three of the other attackers, Singh is now appealing against his death sentence. In 16 hours of interviews, Singh showed no remorse and kept expressing bewilderment that such a fuss was being made about this rape, when everyone was at it.

"A decent girl won't roam around at nine o'clock at night. A girl is far more responsible for rape than a boy," he said.

Mukesh Singh is one of five convicted of the crime - his brother Ram died in prison before the trial

"Housework and housekeeping is for girls, not roaming in discos and bars at night doing wrong things, wearing wrong clothes. About 20% of girls are good."

People "had a right to teach them a lesson" he suggested - and he said the woman should have put up with it.

Leslee Udwin's film, India's Daughter, will be broadcast on Storyville on BBC Four on Sunday 8 March at 22:00 GMT. It will be shown in India on NDTV at 21:00 local time.

"When being raped, she shouldn't fight back. She should just be silent and allow the rape. Then they'd have dropped her off after 'doing her', and only hit the boy," he said.

Chillingly, he went on: "The death penalty will make things even more dangerous for girls. Now when they rape, they won't leave the girl like we did. They will kill her. Before, they would rape and say, 'Leave her, she won't tell anyone.' Now when they rape, especially the criminal types, they will just kill the girl. Death."

I had the long and shocking list of injuries the young woman had sustained, read out to him. I tried, really hard, to search for a glimmer of regret. There was none.

It would be easier to process this heinous crime if the perpetrators were monsters, and just the rotten apples in the barrel, aberrant in nature. Perhaps then, those of us who believe that capital punishment serves a purpose, and I am not among them, could wring their hands in relief when they hang.

For me the truth couldn't be further from this - and perhaps their hanging will even mask the real problem, which is that these men are not the disease, they are the symptoms.

My encounter with Singh and four other rapists left me feeling like my soul had been dipped in tar, and there were no cleaning agents in the world that could remove the indelible stain.

One of the men I interviewed, Gaurav, had raped a five-year-old girl. I spent three hours filming his interview as he recounted in explicit detail how he had muffled her screams with his big hand.

He was sitting throughout the interview and had a half-smile playing on his lips throughout - his nervousness in the presence of a camera, perhaps. At one point I asked him to tell me how tall she was. He stood up, and with his eerie half-smile indicated a height around his knees.

When I asked him how he could cross the line from imagining what he wanted to do, to actually doing it - given her height, her eyes, her screams - he looked at me as though I was crazy for even asking the question and said: "She was beggar girl. Her life was of no value."

These offences against women and girls are a part of the story, but the full story starts with a girl not being as welcome as a boy, from birth. When sweets are distributed at the birth of a boy, not of a girl. When the boy child is nourished more than the girl, when a girl's movements are restricted and her freedoms and choices are curtailed, when she is sent as a domestic slave to her husband's home… If a girl is accorded no value, if a girl is worth less than a boy, then it stands to reason there will be men who believe they can do what they like with them.

I spoke to two lawyers who had defended the murderers of the 23-year-old student at their trial, and what they said was extremely revealing.

"In our society, we never allow our girls to come out from the house after 6:30 or 7:30 or 8:30 in the evening with any unknown person," said one of the lawyers, ML Sharma.

"You are talking about man and woman as friends. Sorry, that doesn't have any place in our society. We have the best culture. In our culture, there is no place for a woman."

The other lawyer, AP Singh, had said in a previous televised interview: "If my daughter or sister engaged in pre-marital activities and disgraced herself and allowed herself to lose face and character by doing such things, I would most certainly take this sort of sister or daughter to my farmhouse, and in front of my entire family, I would put petrol on her and set her alight."

He did not disown that comment when I put it to him. "This is my stand," he said. "I still today stand on that reply."

Gender-inequality is the primary tumour and rape, trafficking, child marriage, female foeticide, honour killings and so on, are the metastases. And in India the problem is not lack of laws - after all, India is a democracy and a civilised, rapidly developing country. The problem is implementation of them.

Article 14 of the Indian Constitution confers absolute equal rights on women. The giving of dowry is a legal offence, but many families maintain the custom nonetheless. Until and unless the mindset changes, the cancer will thrive and continue to spread.

But what compelled me to leave my family and go to Delhi to make this film was not the rape itself, nor the horror of it. It was what followed.

Starting on the day after the rape, and for over a month, ordinary men and women came out on to the streets of India's cities in unprecedented numbers to protest. They braved a freezing December and a ferocious government crackdown of water cannons, baton charges, and teargas shells. Their courage and determination to be heard was extraordinarily inspiring.

There was something momentous about their presence and perseverance - reminiscent to me of the crowds that had thronged Tahrir Square in Cairo - a gathering of civil society that demanded a conversation that was long overdue.

It occurred to me that, for all its appalling record of violence against women and relentless rapes, here was India leading the world by example. I couldn't recall another country, in my lifetime, standing up with such tenacity for women, for me. And I knew at once that I simply had to use whatever talents and skills I had, to amplify their cries of "enough is enough!" which were reverberating across the whole world.

As is often the case with extremely challenging endeavours where the human stakes are high, the main struggle for me was the emotional and psychological toll the work imposed.

When you look into the blackest recesses of the human heart, you cannot but be depressed and deeply disappointed. I woke one morning on the shoot, wet from head to toe, bathed in sweat and fear and my heart knocking against my ribcage. This was a panic attack. I phoned home thinking my husband would answer, but my 13-year-old daughter, Maya, did.

She immediately sensed I was in trouble. And when I told her, in tears, that I was coming home because this was too big for me, the mountain was just too high to scale, she said: "Mummy, you can't come home because I and my generation of girls is relying on you."

What carried me through, apart from Maya, was what had inspired me in the first place: the new-thinkers, especially among the youth, in India who want change and are clamouring for it. And I am absolutely optimistic that we are now on the cusp of change.

NEW DELHI (AP) — When a condemned killer said the woman he and others brutally gang-raped on a New Delhi bus was responsible for what had happened to her, his comments were shocking in their callousness and lack of remorse. But the underlying view has wide acceptance in India.

Blaming women for rape is what hundreds of millions of men here are taught to believe.

And the code for women in this country is simple: Dress modestly, don't go out at night, don't go to bars and clubs, don't go out alone. If you break the code, you will be blamed for the consequences.

When one of the four men sentenced to death for the high-profile gang rape of the woman in 2012 was quoted in a new documentary as saying "a girl is far more responsible for rape than a boy," he was repeating something community and religious leaders in this nation of 1.2 billion routinely say.

"A decent girl won't roam around at 9 o'clock at night. ... Housework and housekeeping is for girls, not roaming in discos and bars at night doing wrong things, wearing wrong clothes," Mukesh Singh said in the documentary, "India's Daughter," meant to be shown on Sunday, International Women's Day, in India and several other countries.

But how different were the convicted rapist's words from comments that Manohar Lal Khattar, the top elected official of Haryana state made last year?

"If a girl is dressed decently, a boy will not look at her in the wrong way," Khattar told reporters, "Freedom has to be limited. These short clothes are Western influences. Our country's tradition asks girls to dress decently."

The convicted rapist learned only what he has heard leaders in his community say, said Jagmati Sangwan, a women's rights activist who heads the All India Democratic Women's Association.

"This man is just following the example our leaders are setting for our young men," she said.

In 2009 when a rightwing Hindu group attacked women in a pub in the southern state of Karnataka, then-Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said that he wanted to "end the culture of boys and girls roaming around in malls holding hands."

Women leaders are not immune.

When a female journalist was shot dead in 2008 while driving home from work well past midnight, New Delhi's top official at the time, Sheila Dixit, make clear she partly blamed the victim.

"All by herself till 3 a.m. at night in a city where people believe...you know...you should not be so adventurous," she told reporters.

It's a view that Sangwan hears all too often.

"It's a heinous view to hold, but it's the view of our religious leaders, our community leaders, our legislators," she said.

The country's women aren't surprised either.

"A lot of Indian men think this way. They don't have any empathy or they are brought up in such a way that they don't feel anything for women. They feel that women are only for sex and to be thrown away," said Bhavleen Singh, an 18-year-old student at Delhi University.

Mukesh Singh, who was driving the bus for much of the time that the 23-year-old woman was being attacked, told the documentary film maker that the victim should have remained silent and allowed the rape, and that they would have spared her life.

The documentary, which includes a 2013 jailhouse interview with Singh, set off government alarm bells after transcripts were released this week. On Tuesday, India's Information and Broadcasting Ministry ordered television channels not to air the film.

It remains unclear whether the government will be able to block the film but the legal wrangling will most likely delay its screening in India.

The brutality, and perhaps the fact that the gang rape occurred on a moving bus in a posh New Delhi neighborhood, galvanized this country of 1.2 billion, where sexual violence is rampant.

The woman and a male friend were returning home from seeing a movie at an upscale mall when they were tricked by the attackers into getting on the bus, which the men had taken out for a joyride. The attackers beat the victim's friend and took turns raping her. They penetrated her with a rod, leaving severe internal injuries that led to her death two weeks later.

Four men were convicted of rape and murder in an unusually fast trial for India's chaotic justice system. A fifth man died in prison, and another attacker who was a juvenile at the time was sentenced to three years in a detention center.

The four adults who went to trial confessed to the attack but later retracted their confessions, saying they'd been tortured into admitting their involvement. Legal appeals against their death sentences are pending in the Supreme Court.

In response to the 2012 attack and the widespread public protests it provoked, India's government rushed through legislation doubling prison terms for rapists to 20 years and criminalizing voyeurism, stalking and the trafficking of women.

But while laws can change quickly, mindsets do not. India's Parliament held a stormy debate Wednesday on whether the film should be screened. Some legislators questioned how the filmmaker, who is British, had gotten into the prison to do the interview. Many, though, were uncomfortable with having India's problems aired publicly — particularly by a foreign filmmaker.

But several lawmakers, many of them women, disagreed.

"What the man spoke reflects views of many men in India," Anu Aga, a prominent businesswoman and legislator said in Parliament.

"Every time a rape happens, the victim is blamed to have provoked the men. Let's be aware of the view and not pretend all is well," she said.

இணையத்தை கலக்கும் இந்துஜா: பெங்களூரு தமிழ் பெண்ணின் திருமண நிபந்தனைகள்

பெங்களூருவை சேர்ந்த இந்துஜா என்ற தமிழ் பெண் தனது திருமணத்துக்காக இணையதளம் தொடங்கியுள்ளார். அதில் அவர் கூறியுள்ள `புரட்சிகர' நிபந்தனைகள் இணையத்திலும், சமூக வலைத்தளங்களிலும் காட்டுத் தீயாக பரவியுள்ளது.

தமிழகத்தை பூர்விகமாக கொண்ட இந்துஜாவின் பெற்றோர், தங்கள் மகளுக்கு இந்த ஆண்டு திருமணம் செய்து வைக்க திட்ட மிட்டுள்ளனர். எனவே தமிழகத் தில் உள்ள தங்களது உறவினர் கள் மத்தியில் மணமகனை தேடி யுள்ளனர். நல்ல வரன் அமையாத தால் செய்தித்தாள்களிலும், திருமணத்துக்கான இணைய தளங்களிலும், `மணமகன் தேவை' என‌ விளம்பரம் கொடுத்துள்ளனர். இதனால் இந்துஜா அதிருப்தி அடைந்ததாக தெரிகிறது.

திருமணத்துக்கு பிறகு குழந்தை பெற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டாம் எனக்கூறும் மணமகனுக்கு முன் னுரிமை வழங்கப்படும் என்பது போன்ற `புரட்சிகர' நிபந்தனை களை விதித்துள்ளார். இதற்கு அவரது நண்பர்கள் மத்தியில் நல்ல வரவேற்பு கிடைத்தது.

குவைத் ஒட்டகச் சந்தையில், ஒட்டகம் மேய்க்கும் ஓர் இளைஞரைக் கண்டேன். பெயரைக் கேட்டேன்; ஹமீது என்றார். ஊரைக் கேட்டேன்; திருவண்ணாமலை என்றார். ஐந்து ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒருமுறை இருமாத விடுப்பு என்றார். இம்முறை சென்று திருமணம் முடித்துவிட்டு உடனே திரும்பிவிட்டேன் என்றார்.கோட்சேவின் வாரிசுகள் இந்தியாவை ஆள்கிறார்கள்!திப்புவின் வாரிசுகளோ பாலைவனத்தில் ஒட்டகம் மேய்க்கிறார்கள்!!

இனி இவர் தன் மனைவியை சந்திக்க ஐந்து வருடம் ஆகும்.....

The letter of January 19, 1790, sent to Budruz Zuman Khan by Tipu himself says: "Don"t you know I have achieved a great victory recently in Malabar and over four lakh Hindus were converted to Islam? I am determined to march against that cursed "Raman Nair" very soon (reference is to Rama Varma Raja of Travancore). Since I am overjoyed at the prospect of converting him and his subjects to Islam, I have happily abandoned the idea of going back to Srirangapatanam now". Previously, in the letter dated March 22, 1788, to Abdul Kadir: "Over 12,000 Hindus were "honoured" with Islam. There were many Namboodiris (Brahmins) among them. This achievement should be widely publicised among the Hindus. There the local Hindus should be brought before you and then converted to Islam. No Namboodiri (Brahmin) should be spared." In the letter dated January 18, 1790, to Syed Abdul Dulai: "With the grace of Prophet Muhammed and Allah, almost all Hindus in Calicut are converted to Islam. Only a few are still not converted on the borders of Cochin State. I am determined to convert them also very soon. I consider this as Jehad to achieve that object."(3)

during the rule of Tipu Sultan tens of thousands of Nairs (Hindus), besides about 30,000 Brahmins and Christians, fled Malabar to seek refuge in Travancore, leaving behind their wealth.

According to M. Gangadharan, there is evidence that many Hindus were converted into Islam. In one of the most widely documented cases, the army invaded Kadathanadu and forcibly converted the Nair soldiers, who was holding out for many weeks against the much army without adequate weapons or food.^[25]

Upper- and lower-caste Hindus and local Christians suffered from the Mysore invasion. Almost a fourth of the Nair population was wiped out and many more were forcibly converted. The Nambuthiris (Brahmins) were also severely affected. According to various rough sources, about half the Hindu population of Malabar fled the country to the forests or Tellicherry and Travancore. They included most of the Hindu Rajas and chieftains who could not resist the invading Mysore army.

Tipu Sultan "Islamized" the place names across Malabar; Mangalapuram (Mangalore) was changed to Jalalabad, Cannanore (Kanwapuram) to Kusanabad, Beypore (Vaippura) to Sultanpatanam or Faruqui, and Calicut to Islamabad. It was only after the death of Tipu Sultan that the local people reverted to old names; 

A broad picture of atrocities in Kadathanad by Mysore army under Hyder Ali as described by a Muslim officer of Mysore army in his diary and as edited by Ghulam Muhammad Sultan Sahib, only surviving son of Tipu Sultan, is given as;^[27]

தற்கொலை செய்ய இம்மாதிரி செய்தார் என்ற தியரியை லுப்தான்சா நிறுவனம் மறுத்துள்ளது. அவருக்கு மனநிலை பாதிப்பும் இல்லை என அந்நிறுவனம் கூறுகிறது. தீவிரவாத செயலாக இருக்குமா என காவல்துறை ஆராய்ந்து வருகிறது

Anand, India's sporting hero, was due to arrive in Chennai on Wednesday afternoon. The crowds at the airport defied imagination. It wasn't possible to get close to the champion without fighting your way through a sea of fans and press people. I managed to garland him, wading through people with a 15 kg rose garland. But on the whole I concentrated on catching the atmosphere of the fans that had gathered to welcome the new world champion.

Young boys and girls thronged the airport with the Indian tri-colour already at 10.30 a.m. Anand's flight landed at Chennai at 13.50, after a slight delay

Anand has always stood up for the handicapped, and says they are close to his heart. Now, they show 
their thanks to him by with an airport vigil.

The first car of the Anand Chariot Convoy, with IM Manuel Aaron, 72, who is the General Secretary of the Tamil Nadu State Chess Association. He carried the Commissioner of Chennai Police order granting permission for such a procession in Chennai city. In the same car is journalist Sakthi. Behind this was the police patrol car followed by a police tow vehicle to remove any other cars which might be blocking Anand's route.

Anand's dressed up limousine gets ready to leave. He is driven from the airport to Trident for a brief lunch and then on to Kasturba Nagar from where the procession took him five kms to his house on a chariot.

  If chaos marked his reception in Delhi, it was a ‘royal’ welcome that was accorded to the World Chess Champion, Vishwanathan Anand, from the moment he stepped out of the Chennai airport. Riding on a regally decked-up two-horse chariot, along the crowded streets of Chennai, for a short while even wearing a metal crown and holding up a scepter, a beaming Anand waved, signed autographs, acknowledged cheers and was even made to bless toddlers along the way.
  
  With the sounds of the chenda (traditional Kerala drums), the mridangam and the nadaswaram greeting him and hordes of school children, a few inmates of a Spastics Home, fans, family, friends and members of the public hailing his world title in Mexico, holding aloft placards and posters, Anand returned to his home-city along with wife Aruna, flushed with the excitement of the rousing reception.

  Viswanathan Anand is seldom at a loss for words, but the World chess champion was stunned at the reception he received in his home city. Huge groups of children and chess lovers representing various institutions and associations had assembled at the Chennai Airport on a hot Wednesday afternoon, hoping to catch more than a fleeting glimpse of Anand. The media and his fans were engaged in a tussle for vantage positions after the World Champion walked out of the domestic terminal with his wife Aruna. “Never in my dreams did I expect such a reception,” he said. “I’m at a loss for words actually. It’s unbelievable. I did not expect this. I thank all the people who made it, specially the children, for braving the heat and waiting for me.”
  
  The 38-year-old was then taken to Kasturba Nagar third cross street, where a chariot was readied to take him to his residence via Indira Nagar, LB Road and MG Road, with the idea of giving his fans and well-wishers an opportunity to greet him. Calm and accommodating as ever, Anand obliged every single autograph request and shook hands with all his fans through the course of his chariot ride, which was part of the TNSCA’s and Velammal Institution’s reception programme.

  Anand in a press conference: What is happening is chess in India at the moment? “Great interest, the numbers are growing, and in P Harikrishna and K Sasikiran and Sandipan Chanda you have some very strong men. And I guess Koneru Humpy is aiming at Judit Polgar. On a possible match: What if Kasparov decides to give up politics and return to chess? “I can say one thing, he will have a game with me waiting for him, if and when he does,” said Anand, the smile never leaving his face. “I’m open to it.” On entering into politics: “I don’t think about it, I guess I will never be interested in that.”

• CNN-IBN: I have no plans of slowing down
  "I think it's been a pretty fantastic year. If in January you had told me that you are going to regain the World Title and become World No. 1, and go back over 2800 the same year, I would never have believed you. I don't feel that old in chess terms. My rivals are a regular bunch of guys and when I talk to them I feel like a teenager anyway. As long as you are physically fit and you are able to work hard, it's not a big problem. In chess it's going to be difficult to be a top player as a 50-year-old, but I still have got a (long) way to go there."

Reading the news yesterday about actor Aamir Khan going vegan, triggered some debate / discussion in our Ernest Bell Library.

A Google search for aamir khan vegan this morning gives an impressive number of results, in many languages.

~ His wife Kiran Rao who’s been a vegan herself for the past few years, brought the video to his notice a couple of months ago. It is a one-hour presentation by a doctor on 15 of the most common diseases that cause death and how diet can prevent them. “At the end of it I was convinced that vegans are way ahead of non-vegetarians and even vegetarians,” says Aamir who took the call on February 2 and in the last one month has steered clear of not just non-vegetarian favourites but also eggs, milk, ghee, paneer and most Indian sweets made of milk. He even takes his tea with soya milk. ~ - one of the many articles.

ghee = butter oil / clarified butter

paneer = curd cheese made by curdling heated milk with lemon juice, vinegar, or any other food acids.

Aamir’s ‘change’ is being discussed by several hundred million people. It may be the ‘trigger’ for several million more people from India stopping consuming dairy & eggs.

Shruti turns Vegetarian

 
Shruti Haasan has joined the bandwagon of vegetarians. Shruti, who was an avid eater of meat, turned into a veggie. She decided to give up her favourite beef, biryani and steaks after listening to her veteran father Kamal Haasan.

Shruti said, "Right from my childhood, I'd been a lover of meat. Beef was my favourite which I had given up a year-and-a-half ago. Now after my recent visit to Chennai, I resolved not to eat non-vegetarian."

Admitting that her dad was behind this decision, she added, "My dad suggested me to follow this new lifestyle. Although he himself was not a vegetarian, he is highly careful about his diet. After stopped eating meat, I feel lighter now." Shruti, however, said that she would continue to explore new cuisines. Japanese and Turkish cuisines are her preferred food. Of course, Shruti loves Sambar and South Indian Thali.

பால் பொருட்களை கூட சேர்க்காமல் இருப்பதால் பி12 வைட்டமின் பற்றாகுறை முதல் அனிமியா வரை பல சிக்கல்கள் வரும். அதிலும் ஸ்ருதி ஹாஸன் கல்யாணம் ஆகாதவர். பிள்ளைபேறு சமயத்தில் வீகன் உணவை பின்பற்றுவது மிக ஆபத்தானது.

இவர்கள் இருவரையும் எனக்கு பிடிக்கும் என்பதால் அவர்களை இந்த ஆபத்தில் இருந்து காப்பாற்ற கடவுளை பிரார்த்தித்தேன். இதுக்கு ஏன் வியப்படைகிறிரிகள் என்பது தான் விந்தை உலக இழையின் விந்தை :-)

பட்டினிசாவுகள் போர்நடக்கும் சோமாலியா மாதிரி நாடுகளை தவிர வேறு எங்கேயும் கிடையாது. இன்றைய உலகில் பட்டினி இருப்பவர்களை விட ஒபிசிடியால் பாதிக்கப்படுள்ள மக்கள் தொகை அதிகம். சோமாலியாவில் நிகழும் பட்டினிசாவுகளை நன்கொடை மூலம் தடுக்க முடியாது. அங்கே தீவிரவாத குழுக்கள் உதவியாக வரும் உணவுபொருட்களை கைப்பற்றிக்கொண்டு அராஜகம் செய்கிறார்கள். அவர்களுடன் போரிட சோமாலியாவுக்கு படைகளை அமெரிக்கா அனுப்பியபோது அமெரிக்க ஏகாதிபத்தியமே வெளியேறு என எல்லாரும் சொன்னார்கள். அமெரிக்காவும் வெளியேரிவிட்டது. அதனால் பட்டினிசாவுகளை தடுக்க முடியாது. ஆனால் தானாக தேடிக்கொள்ளும் இம்மாதிரி ஆபத்துக்களை தடுக்க முடியும்..இம்மாதிரி உண்மைகளை எடுத்து சொல்வதன் மூலம் :-)

வீகன், வெஜிடேரியன் எல்லாம் ஒன்றுதான்.  மரக்கறி உணவையே அவை குறிக்கும்.  I am vegetarian என்று சொல்லிவிட்டு, நான் வெறும் இலை, தழை மட்டும் உண்பவன் அல்ல என்று விளக்குவதற்குள் உயிர் போய்விடுவதால், வீகன்+டயரீ ப்ராடக்ட்ஸ் என்றோ , லாக்டோ வெஜிடேரியன் என்றோ சொல்லப் பழகவேண்டிய சூழ்நிலை.

சைவச் சாப்பாடு என்றால்தான் உயிர்க் கொலை செய்யாத [பால் அடங்கிய] உணவு என்று பொருள்.  அதை எப்படிச் சொல்லி இந்நாட்டு மக்களுக்கு [அமெரிக்கர்களுக்கு] புரியவைப்பது?  

அதையும் ஒருவன்பின் ஒருவராகச் சொல்லி விளக்கிக்கொண்டுதான் இருக்கிறேன்.

America's most generous con artist

For decades, Mark Landis donated art to museums and galleries across the US. He was feted as a wealthy collector but the pictures were fakes that he had created himself. He was never prosecuted though - he didn't take payment so hadn't broken any law.

"It obviously isn't a crime to give a picture to a museum, and they treated me like royalty. One thing led to another, and I kept doing it for 30 years," says Mark Landis, one the most prolific art forgers in US.

"Have you ever been treated like royalty? Let me tell you, it's pretty good."

Landis's career as an art forger began in the mid-1980s, when he gave some pictures to a California museum, saying they were by the American 20th Century artist Maynard Dixon.

"It was an impulse to impress my mother. I always admired the rich collectors on TV giving away pictures to museums.

"I put Maynard Dixon's name on them because that's what the museums wanted," he says. "He was a cowboy artist, so I went to the library and checked out some books of photographs of American Indians, and copied a bunch of them.

"I knew the museums wanted cowboy pictures, so that's what I did."

As a teenager Landis had suffered a nervous breakdown following the death of his father, and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Art therapy revealed his talent for copying, and he was able to turn out fakes at astonishing speed.

"I know everybody's heard about forgers that do all these complicated things with chemicals and what-have-you," he says. "I don't have that kind of patience. I buy my supplies at Walmart or Woolworth - discount stores - and then I do it in an hour or two at most.

"If I can't get something done by the time a movie's over on TV, I'll give up on it."

Posing as a wealthy benefactor, Landis donated counterfeits to dozens of respected institutions across the US until, in 2008, he walked into the Oklahoma City Museum. Matt Leininger was the museum's registrar, tasked with looking after new works.

"We just thought Landis was a really eccentric art collector," Leininger says. "The first piece he gave us, he actually hand-delivered - a watercolour by Louis Valtat.

"We framed the Valtat and put it on display next to a Renoir in our gallery, not knowing what we had just hung was a fake."

Landis continued sending forgeries to museums, and might never have been rumbled had he not offered copies of the same works to different galleries.

"We received an envelope in the mail which had five additional works in," says Leininger. They appeared to be paintings by the French 19th Century artists, Paul Signac and Stanislas Lepine.

I didn't think too much about it until I looked up the Lepine, and it showed up in a press release at the Saint Louis University of Modern Art - with the same credit line. That raised a red flag.

"I sent a message out, and within the first hour, between phone calls and emails I had 20 institutions call me and ask who this guy was and what was going on."

Leininger says Landis did a good job on his forgeries - but they didn't stand up to close scrutiny. One offering was a chalk drawing supposedly 300-400 years old. Leininger peeled back the brittle-looking mount board on the picture, expecting it to fall apart.

"It didn't, and when I peeled it back it was stark white," he says. "And it smelled like stale coffee. So he was using coffee to distress things to give them age."

The ease with which a simple inspection revealed the deception begs the question why so many institutions were so easily fooled.

"Landis would do his homework. He knew what museums collected. He was pretty sure they were going to be accepted because it would have fit their collection."

The way Landis presented himself - and his donations - was also very convincing. "He said everything an art museum would want to hear," says Leininger. He had a "back story about how he had this art collection and supposedly family wealth, promising money for endowments".

Leininger sought advice from a former FBI agent who specialised in art crime. But because no money had changed hands for the forgeries, Landis had not broken the law. The burden of due diligence fell on the institutions who accepted his donations and if they displayed his fakes in their collection, that was their problem.

Landis had embarrassed dozens of galleries with his deception, and Leininger believes that some museums knew Landis was a fraud but kept quiet to save face.

"What curator or director wants to admit they accepted fakes into a museum?" asks Leininger. "Museums don't want to make that stuff public."

Landis meanwhile acknowledges his deceit, but says he doesn't feel bad about it.

"I'm like Pinocchio," he says. "You let your conscience be your guide. If something's really wrong, you kind of know. I wasn't worried about being prosecuted."

He continued to produce forged works, even after he had been exposed, and carried on donating to unwitting galleries. Indeed, his output increased after his mother's death in 2010.

Two years later, Oklahoma City Museum put on an exhibition of Landis's counterfeit works. It was curated by Leininger, and opened - deliberately - on April Fool's Day. Landis was the guest of honour.

"I was really nervous before the show because I didn't know what to expect. But then when I got there everything was really nice. So I was pleasantly surprised," he says.

Landis and Leininger met at the exhibition, where the forger apologised for any problems he had caused. But was Landis embarrassed by what he had done now he was confronted with a room full of his own forgeries?

"Not really - except a lot of them were really bad," he says. "That's why I didn't want to look at them."

அமெரிக்க வரலாற்றில் இல்லாத வகையில் சிசுக்கொலை குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்டு 20 ஆண்டுகள் ஜெயில் தண்டனை பெற்றுள்ளார் ஒரு இந்தியபெண்.

இன்டியானா மாநிலத்தில் 33 வயது பூர்வி படேல் எனும் பெண் வசித்து வந்தார். சில மாதம் முன்பு ஆபத்தான நிலையில் மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்க்கபட்டார். அதில் அவர் சொந்தமாக கருக்கலைப்பு முயற்சியில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்தது தெரியவந்தது. திருமணம் ஆகாத நிலையில், கர்ப்பமடைந்து வெளியே தெரிந்தால் அவமானம் என்ற நிலையில், மருத்துவமனைக்கு சென்று அபார்ஷனும் செய்து கொள்ளாமல் ஆன்லைனில் ஹாங்காங்கில் இருந்து கருக்கலைப்பு மருந்துகளை வாங்கியுள்ளார். இதற்குள் ஆறு மாதம் கடந்துவிட்டிருந்தது. ஆறு மாத சிசுவை மருந்து கொடுத்து கலைக்க முடியுமா? மருந்தை சாப்பிட்டதும் டெலிவரி ஆகி குழந்தை பிறந்துவிட்டது

பிறந்த குழந்தை உயிருடன் உள்ளதா, செத்துவிட்டதா என தெரியாமல் அதை பிளாஸ்டிக் பேகில் போட்டு குப்பைதொட்டியில் வீசிவிட்டு மருத்துவமனைக்கு வந்து அட்மின்ட் ஆகிவிட்டார். குழந்தையின் சடலத்தை எடுத்து ஆராய்ந்ததில் அது பிறக்கையில் உயிருடன் இருந்தது தெரியவந்தது. அமெரிக்காவில் முதல் முறையாக கருக்கொலை மற்றும் சிசுக்கொலை ஆகிய இரண்டு வகை குற்றங்களும் சாட்டபட்டு  20 ஆண்டுகள் தண்டனை அடைந்துள்ளார் பூர்வி படேல்.

உடன் பணிபுரியும் திருமணம் ஆன ஆணுடன் கள்ளதொடர்பில் ஈடுபட்டு குடும்பத்துக்கு தெரிந்தால் அவமானம் என்ற நிலையில் இதை செய்ததாக கோர்ட்டில் தெரிவித்தார். இன்று இவருக்கு ஆதரவாக இவரது குடும்பமும், பெண்ணுரிமை அமைப்புக்கள் சிலவும், இந்திய அமைப்புகள் சிலவும் களத்தில் இறங்கியுள்ளன.

A set of photographs released on Islamic State's social media channels showed the blindfolded man kneeling in front of a fighter who aimed a handgun at the back of his head.

The final image shows him lying on the ground as blood oozes from the open bullet wounds on his head. 

The gruesome images emerge just under a month after ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi banned the release of execution videos because he thought they tarnished the ruthless group's image.

ISIS terrorist have publicly executed a suspected murderer in front of a crowd of hundreds in the group's adopted capital of Raqqa, Syria.

A set of photographs released on ISIS's social media channels showed the blindfolded man kneeling in front of a fighter who aimed a handgun at the back of his head.

The final image shows him lying on the ground as blood oozes from the open bullet wounds on his head.

The gruesome images emerge just under a month after ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi banned the release of execution videos because he thought they tarnished the ruthless group's image.

The man was killed for supposedly murdering someone, anti-ISIS activists "Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently" said on Twitter.

இது போல "சென்ஷேஷேனல்" என்ற நோக்கில் செய்திகளை வெளியிடும் பொழுது அதனைப் பற்றி மேலும் தகவல் சேகரித்து உண்மையை உறுதிப் படுத்திக் கொண்டபிறகு வெளியிடவும்.

6-1-2013 அன்று கடலூர் மாவட்டம் குறிஞ்சிப்பாடி அருகே கன்னித்தமிழ்நாடு என்னும் கிராமத்திற்குச் செல்லும் தார்ச் சாலையில் 'படையாட்சிக் கோட்டை பறையனுக்கு அனுமதி இல்லை' என்று சாதிவெறியர்கள் வன்முறையைத் தூண்டும் வாசகங்களை எழுதியுள்ளனர்.   இது அந்தப் பகுதியில் பெரும் பதற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. 7-1-2013 அன்று குறிஞ்சிப்பாடியில் விடுதலைச் சிறுத்தைகள் நூற்றுக்கணக்கானோர் திரண்டு சாதிய வன்முறையைத் தூண்டும் வாசகங்களை எழுதிய பா.ம.க. மற்றும் வன்னியர் சங்கத்தினரைக் கைது செய்யக்கோரி சாலை மறியலில் ஈடுபட்டனர்.  இதனால் காவல்துறை பிணையில் வெளிவரும் பிரிவுகளில் இருவரைக் கைது செய்து உடனடியாக விடுவித்தது.
 
சாலை மறியலில் ஈடுபட்ட தலித் மக்கள் மீது ஆத்திரமடைந்த சாதிவெறியர்கள் அக்கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்த தலித் மக்களின் குடியிருப்புகளைத் தாக்குவதற்குச் சுற்றுவட்டார கிராமங்களிலிருந்து ஆட்களைத் திரட்டுகின்றனர்.  தருமபுரியில் வேடிக்கை பார்த்ததைப் போல காவல்துறை இங்கேயும் வேடிக்கைப் பார்க்கப் போகிறதா என்பதைப் பொறுத்திருந்திருந்துதான் பார்க்க வேண்டும்.

ஆக உண்மை நிகழ்வு தான் என தெரிகிறது.
