7 ancient siva Temples on Same longitude

Some of the most famous and revered Lord Shiva temples in India exist from time immemorial, and they were built at a time when there was no satellite and technology, forget instruments that could measure the exact longitude and latitude.

But, somehow each of these seven temples are accurately aligned in a geographic straight line of- 79° E 41’54” Longitude.

Beginning at Kedarnath and ending at Rameswaram, these Shiva temples were back then, built using the yogic calculations.

Five of these seven temples have Shiva Linga, represented as the manifestation of five basic elements of nature: Temple of water is in Thiruvanaikaval, temple of fire is in Thiruvannamalai , temple of air is in Kalahasti , temple of earth is in Kanchipuram and the temple for space/sky is in Chidambaram.

ma'am; you have preempted me as i was marshaling my reply with some interesting facts~!

1) the earth has a diameter of ~12000 km with circumference of ~420000 km in the equator; at 9-15 deg N the circumference is app 38000 km;
2) the earth, for navigation convenience and for ascertaining locations on a map, is virtually divided into 360 deg longitude (180 E and 180 W)
3) in tamilnadu a degree of longitude is not a thin line but a band running around 100 km; giving -0.5 and +0.5 on both sides (ie 78.5 to 79.5)
4) allowing something at 79.6 or 78.3 as if they same line means we miss out a lot!
5) what it means will be lot more clear seeing the longitude of these places:

a) Tirupati/Coordinates; 13.6288° N, 79.4192° E
b) tirumala: 13.6782° N, 79.3522° E
c) Srirangam/Coordinates 10.8560° N, 78.6966° E
d)  Velankanni/Coordinates 10.6819° N, 79.8437° E
e) Thanjavur/Coordinates 10.7870° N, 79.1378° E

காசி விஸ்வநாதர் கோயில் காலத்தால் பிற்பட்டது......இசுலாமியர் ஆட்சிக் காலத்தில் தோன்றியது.

அக்கோயிலின் பெருமைக்குக் காரணம் அது இசுலாமிய-இந்து சமயப் போரின் போது தோன்றி நிலைத்தமை ஆகும்.

நம் குமரகுருபரர் காலத்திற்கு சற்றே முந்தையது.

குமரகுருபரர் காசிக்குச் சென்ற வரலாறும் உண்டு.அது பற்றிய கர்ணபரம்பரைச் செய்தியும் இன்றும் வழங்குகிறது.

குமரகுருபரர் வருகை தொடர்பாக எழுந்த குழப்பத்திற்கு  நடுவில் பாதுஷாவின் கண்களுக்கு மட்டும் அவர் சிங்கத்தின் மேல் அமர்ந்திருப்பது போல் தோன்றியதாம். அவர் பெயரில் ஒரு படித்துறையும் காசியின் கங்கைக்கரையில் இன்றும் உள்ளது. அப்படித்துறையில் இன்றும் அவர் சிங்கத்தின் மேல் அமர்ந்துள்ளதாகவே சிற்ப வேலைப்பாடும் உள்ளது.(முந்தாநாள் தான் நேரில் பார்த்துவிட்டு வந்துள்ளேன்.)

வாரணாசி தலத்தின் தொன்மையை தெரிந்து கொள்ள ஒரு வாய்ப்பு. (வாரணாசியில் கோயில்கள் மாறி மாறிக் கட்டப்பட்டு இடிக்கப்பட்டு புதுப்பிக்கப்பட்டதை விட்டுவிடுவோம்) 

காசி விஸ்வநாதர் என்ற கடவுளின் தலமாக  அது எவ்வளவு காலம்  அறியப்படுகிறது? 

காசியில் கங்கைக்கரையில்  காராம்பசுவைக் கொன்ற பாவம் வந்தடையட்டும் என்ற அச்சுறுத்தல் கல்வெட்டுகளில் முதலில் எப்பொழுது தோன்றத் துவங்கியது.

Again you pre-empted. Kasi was one of the few (16 ?) Democratic dwellings in northern India before Maurya empire was established.

As regard temple i believe the first reference was around 300 ad.. I will check and revert on that.

வைப்புத்தலம் என்பது நான் அறியாத செய்தி .

ஆனால் அங்கு விஸ்வநாதர் கோயிலைச் சுற்றியிருந்த பிற பல கோயில்களையும் பார்த்தபோது எனக்கு வியப்பாக இருந்தது.

சாட்சிப் பிள்ளையார் கோயில் தனியாக உள்ளது.......அப்புறம் ஒரு நூறு கடைகள் தள்ளி விஸ்வநாதர் ............இன்னொரு திசையில் அதே இண்டு  இடுக்குகளுக்கு இடையில்  விசாலாட்சி அம்மன் தனியாக எழுந்தருளி உள்ளார்.........இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் சந்து பொந்துக்குள் நுழைந்தால் துர்க்கை .....

இப்படி இருப்பதைப் பார்க்கும் பொழுது எனக்கு ஏனோ மதுரையிலுள்ள கூடல் அழகர் கோயிலின் எட்டுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட துண்டாடப்பட்ட சிறு சிறு கோயில்கள் நினைவுக்குவந்தன.
